MooneyPTG Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 Tried it on wingx pro and flight plan go. Both programs are receiving ADS-B. Antenna was not that great up front. Probably too much interference. Going to look at other possibilities with the code. Quote
Yetti Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 A couple things I found in his image UK keyboard was used so pipe and other characters you may need are not mapped His code is in Go really not sure why because you could just unix script everything. last time I used unix was 1990. I kind of remember DOS unix is starting to come back. I reloaded an image from scratch. Need to start learning how to bring the other stuff in. This may help you start going. http://dovesnestfarm.com/wordpress/diy-ads-b-reciever/ have not added this site http://sonicgoose.com/blog/ Quote
Rik Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 I took this onto a Southwest flight last Friday between OAK and ONT.. I received weather towers, didn't see any weather so I didn't really know if this is working as the weather outside the plane was pretty non existent as well. I didn't know to click onto the Stratux until the flight back up today. Unfortunately, I wasn't going to go far enough rear this morning to get a window seat as I got there late for boarding and on the flight down I got some seriously weird looks while I was doing this. No traffic read or at least none saw on the screeen Quote
Browncbr1 Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 I used double sided tape to attach the antenna to the aft most plastic panel on the headliner in the center above back seat pax heads. This gives line of sight out all windows and away from other electronics. I route the wire under the headliner and the raspberry / battery sits on the hat rack. I noticed I already had metars when climbing about 1000' agl. I think it may take a while for it to download radar images though??? I wasn't up very long. I hope he adds traffic function eventually. I'm using fltplan go. 1 Quote
NotarPilot Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 I saw a guy from Hilton Software (WingX) show me this homemade set up at the Flying expo in Palm Springs 2 weeks ago and he was able to get local traffic displayed on his tablet from inside the expo hall. I was very impressed. Quote
RobertGary1 Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 I'm using it with WingX. So far its been perfect. And it took me about 15 minutes to assemble. He's made it very easy. I'm going to add the $50 AHRS unit so I have a back up attitude indicator and can use the synthetic vision. -Robert Quote
RobertGary1 Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Foreflight is deeply in bed with Stratus. They've gone out of their way to prevent other devices from working. I suspect they are irritated with the Stratux. -Robert Quote
N601RX Posted October 30, 2015 Report Posted October 30, 2015 I'm thinking it is only a matter of time until foreflight releases an update and the Stratux will mysteriously quit working. Of course the Foreflight update will contain some firmware to update the real Stratus units so they will continue to work. 1 Quote
RobertGary1 Posted October 30, 2015 Report Posted October 30, 2015 I'm thinking it is only a matter of time until foreflight releases an update and the Stratux will mysteriously quit working. Of course the Foreflight update will contain some firmware to update the real Stratus units so they will continue to work. Already Foreflight is hardcoded to only connect to wifi sid "Stratus". So those with Stratux have had to go into their wifi config and trick Foreflight into thinking its Stratus by changing their own name to Stratus. -Robert 1 Quote
