I'm trying to buy an ACS ignition switch with "off, left, right, and start" but I can't find the part number, making it hard to purchase one. Does anyone have any idea what the part number is?

You didn't say why you're in the market for a replacement, but be aware that Bendix makes a re-build kit for the push-to-start ignition switches.  Once the switch is out of the panel, the kit is a very simple install.  Costs about 1/3 of a new switch.

This was covered in another thread about a year or two ago. Using the search will probably find it.

Your M20E needs the ignition switch with the push to start, in order to activate the shower of sparks prior to engaging the starter. The ACS switch doesn't have that and would not be legal or appropriate for our older Mooneys.

I know there are folks here who don't have the push to start switches, and they probably work just fine, but it's not approved or right.

Per Bendix Service Bulletin SB 583, Ignition Switch part number 10-357210-1 is the replacement for the old 10-126680-2.

I believe this is the basis for the "Mooney Retrofit Kit" noted. I'm not saying I know this 100%, so hopefully someone else can shed some light on it.

Also found it interesting the split in the two different ignition switch Retrofit Kits- I believe that was the split between shower of sparks and impulse couplings. Again, maybe someone else can shed some light here.

I had an MSC install an ACS switch in the "C" three years ago.  

They replaced a failing original Bendix switch.  Now the key doesn't fall out during flight any more, an additional benefit.

The correct ACS switch for a vintage Mooney is the version with the start position, ACS part number A-510-2.  It works with the 2-terminal Shower of Sparks.

ACS switches manufactured after 1989 don't need the kit mentioned in the ACS SB and don't have to be reinspected per SB for 2,000 hours.

What was the basis for the MSC to install the switch? I would love to install one in my airplane but the way I read the rules it would be a Major Alteration and I don't feel like messing with the Field Approval. Was it just a logbook entry, or was there a 337 associated with the installation?

And how well does it work, and are you happy with it?

I got a replacement from aircraft spruce and it is push to start. Cost around 350. Works great. You can probably find it in my old threads.

Here is the switch at AS.

 

There is a wiring diagram to install it with shower of sparks see attached.  Essentially the SOS is wired together with the starter solenoid.  The SOS is activated at the same time as the starter solenoid.

I was really hoping someone could share with me how they got an Aircraft Spruce switch in their airplane. I've seen them in an experimental and was impressed by the quality, but wondered about the legality.

Please PM me if you're not comfortable posting publicly. I do my own work and sign my own logbooks. I am just curious how others (such as an MSC) have justified the installation.
