Tahoerebel Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Hi all Finished the paint & import process on our new 201. Got about six hours in it. When in turbulence stronger than light chop, the trim moves nose up on its own. Is there any adjustment to tighten it up. Has anyone else experienced this? Quote
carusoam Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 There is a friction lock device on the trim hand-wheel... What year Is you 201? Somebody recently posted a copy of a drawing out of a service or parts manual. You might be able to use the search function to find it. Of course, there may be a different reason that may be causing the change. I am not a mechanic. Just a PP... Best regards, -a- Quote
Hank Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Wow, what a nice upgrade for the 201s! Don't think they made trim friction locks in 1970 . . . But then again, I've never looked as mine doesn't move. I do know that I've replaced the grease on the jack screw once, and add some every annual. That may be one thing to check--lube the jack screw per the Maintenance Manual. The PO of my plane just gave it a pump or two at annual and it was a little low the first time I read the book and did it. Quote
Piloto Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Check the trim switch on the yoke. You may accidentally touch the switch when in turbulence. José Quote
jetdriven Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 I've never seen a friction lock on the trim on a 201. Does anyone have any documentation of this? Mine is too tight Quote
OR75 Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 I have not seen any friction lock on my J either. I would be worried if the trim moved because of turbulence (I have an altitude hold with auto trim) I clean and grease the jack screw as well as the trim wheel belt regularly. the wheel turns ok. A little more resistance in one direction than the other. Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 There is a brake, spring and screw on J models s/n 24-0001 thru 24-0854 according to the IPC. It is located on the trim wheel pedestal from what I can see. Clarence Quote
carusoam Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Oops, I errantly started the friction lock rumor... Fuzzy memory, -a- 1 Quote
