Marauder Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 I thought I would post this in case one of you are able to help out. I did a puppy run for Pilots N Paws yesterday. One of the dogs got free and went on a roundabout at the changeover airport (KXSA). After unsuccessfully trying to catch him for 1.5 hours, we had to give up the effort. This morning he was caught and transported to KCHO on the west side of DC. They need to get the dog up to KOQN by Friday. If any of you are able to get him closer to Philly, could you PM me? takair Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 My worst nightmare doing PnP trips. Have had a couple of close calls. Mooneys not the easiest to transfer multiple dogs... Glad they found him. 1 Quote
JohnB Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 Its one of my worst nightmares of PnP trips as well. Because of my one close call, I adopted a no transfer out of crate until we get inside a building or an enclosed area policy, If I have to put it on a leash to get it out of the crate from the plane, I do it with my plane door closed. But even that's not foolproof as i had one that did a Houdini out of his harness and went running down the street. Fortunately, we caught him after about 20 minutes of cardio! 1 Quote
Marauder Posted April 28, 2015 Author Report Posted April 28, 2015 It was a real mess. The person helping me with the dogs was new to the routine and collared the Houdini (a small Chi). He slipped the collar and it was off to the races. Fortunately, the airport manager called the local animal control yesterday morning and they set a trap. The poor guy was hungry and walked right into it within an hour. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote

carusoam Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 Mission accomplished? Nicely done, -a- Quote
Marauder Posted April 29, 2015 Author Report Posted April 29, 2015 Mission accomplished? Nicely done, -a- Sort of... I still have one pup stranded in Virginia. If I wasn't stuck at work all week, I would try to get him back to Philly. I was hoping someone could fly him closer to me so I could find an excuse to sneak out for a couple of hours to get him. Where he is now is about 4 hours round trip for me. And here is the offending felon. I noticed they put a full harness on the escape artist! Doesn't he look like he is pleading mercy from the judge? JohnB Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 He looks like he can be pretty sneaky, looking cute and innocent now.... Bring on the crate for air trips! (It's nice to see others doing these trips, great fun!) Quote
