wishboneash Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Found MS after I bought my Mooney. I might have better informed if I had joined earlier, but no major mistakes or regrets on the plane I chose. I might have had a better choice and one closer to home, if I had joined prior to buying mine. Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 I bought my M20C in 2002 and then stopped flying from 2008 to 2011. I found MS once I had decided to take N9341V out of storage and get her flying again. The advice and support from the group, as well as the virtual friendship has been great. Quote
carusoam Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 Dirty wing.... (From an old memory...) The side effect of one of the owners of MAC performing a cost saving move... They swapped expensive flush fasteners for lower cost round heads. They saved a few bucks, but cost a few knots. Imagine making a small decision at work to save a few thousand dollars for the company. Would you think people would be discussing the decision half a century later....? Planes weren't supposed to last this long...? Best regards, -a- Quote
DXB Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 When shopping for C models, I looked at a '69 before buying my '68, which was the last year of flush rivets for this model. No clue how much speed difference it makes - the '69 wing didn't seem exactly "dirty" when trying to slow down, but the '68 wing sure looked pretty. Quote
22 others Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Before. Mooneyspace did not influence my decision to buy a Mooney. It did influence which Mooney I bought. Quote
DrBill Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 I bought and joined in same month. I was a charter member of the Beech Aero Club and looked for similar org here. I find this site most helpful. Bill Quote
TTaylor Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 After and Before! I was a partner in a 20C from 2005 to 2010 until we found spar corrosion and had to write it off. I was missing flying the Mooney and started looking again in 2012. MS helped me buy my current 20F. The plane had been repossessed by the bank and was sitting in Tennessee and I needed to move quickly to get an inspection done to figure out was it worth pursuing. I got recommendations from users on MS to find a mechanic that was able to fly over and look at the plane and then after I made the deal I spent 10 days in his shop getting the plane ready to fly home. Not sure I could have bought the plane without the help I got from MS. 1 Quote
