According to my POH, "A reduced fuel quantity indicator is installed in each tank. These indicators show the 25 U.S. gallon usable fuel level in each tank."

What exactly does this mean? Does it mean the fuel indicator shows the last 25 usable gallons and not the first 7 or, the other way around? The POH gives no other information on this subject.

Total capacity is 66.5 with 64 usable.

Does it have bladders? Is it a insert from a stc? I have a 77' J and my total is also advertised as 66.5, with 64 usable.

In level flight each tank has 33 gallons of usable, but if one is close to running out as soon as a decent is started fuel runs forward engine goes cold....

Not sure on 50 gallons.....

I think It's a tab like Cherokees have that shows a lesser fuel quantity. That said I have never seen one on a Mooney.

Yes, I have noticed the tabs in the tanks. Had no idea this is what was being referred to in the POH. Thank you Byron/TomK

The linemen at the airports are familiar with these tabs.  Just tell them to "fill it to the tabs" and they will fill it until the fuel is just touching the bottom of that metal tab in the fuel tank.  Now you have 50 gallons.

I have the 54 gallon bladders. When u fill it to the tabs for 25 gal a side it's the tab that locks the fuel filler cap.

The way the POH described it, I guess I was expecting something different than fill tabs. Learn something every day. Thanks again.

On the North Slope, Pruhdoe Bay oil fields facility has an indoor swimming pool.

Of course it's official name is the Fire Prevention reserve water supply, I guess it's all in how you read the words.  :)
