DaV8or Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 wow, this APP works well with my ADD....aircraft distraction disorder Brian Oh man I suffer from that disease! When I'm driving, I'll see a low flying plane overhead and crane my neck to check it out. My wife will then remind me to focus on driving the moving vehicle! ADD for sure! 1 Quote
DaV8or Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Me on a saturday morning: I'm running a few errands and swinging by the airport for a few minutes, I won't be too long. Her: have fun sweety see you tonight........or if we have things to do: what do you mean your stopping by the airport, I thought we were doing ?????(what ever we had planned) today! Me: I'm just stopping by for a minute. her: yea, a minute airport time...thats 5 hours normal time. They need an AP for non pilot's spouses. It easily does the Hangar Time to Universal Time conversion. Depending on what the reason for the pilot going to the hangar is (always a super valid reason of course) it will make the conversion so that the spouse can accurately plan the day. For example- Pilot says, "I'm just going down to the hangar drop off some stuff and I'll be right back. About 15 minutes at the hangar." This scenario gets a 3.5:1 ratio, so about 52.5 minutes at the hangar. Pilot says, "I'm just going down to the hangar to do a quick oil change. Should take about an hour." The AP will then calculate something more like a 4.75:1 ratio and so respond with 4 hours and 45 minutes at the hangar. Pilot says, "I'm just going down to the hangar to wash the plane, should take about 3 hours." In this case, the AP would just block out the whole day. and respond with return after dark. If the spouse were to have more realistic expectations in universal time, they could more easily adapt to life with an aircraft owner. 1 Quote

Personnel involved plays a huge factor in the time ratio, I have totally messed her up by being back with in 15 min (no one was at the airport in the middle of the afternoon) or returning at midnight after "just swinging by to check the plane". Five minutes of helping some one work on a plane isn't too much is it? My wife also stopped calling to ask what time I will be home for dinner, she just loads some groceries into the car and cooks dinner at the airport. Brian Brian Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Hank Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Brian, you're making us all jealous!! P.S.--we need hangar pics after this post. Your wife "cooks dinner at the airport"??? You must have a nice man-cave there. Quote
carusoam Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Worst mis-management of time this year... Went to lunch with a few NJMooney people at Brett's Beech Cave. Ended up at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Got back somewhat later than expected. No issues...(?) -a- 1 Quote

Hank Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Cool hangar! Cool, understanding wife! Slick wing-shaped table, too. What kind of STCs did it take to lay the tail back and add winglets to your C? :-) Quote
orionflt Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 The hanger belongs to Bob Wolstenholme but it is where i spend most of my time when i'm at the airport and where we hold most of out events. the man cave portion is still under construction but when done should be pretty nice.
