  1. Heck no! Take a video, let me have access to it and I will be sure to share it with the world. Make sure you spend extra time catching where he is looking when he is in the pattern and in the landing flare. I got some side bets that it ain't at the AOA indicator.
  2. Mother F$&/ing Phantom! (why is it that spell check always ruins my moments of glory?) For the record Fantom, I have made piece (spell check again) with both WingX and the iPad. You just need to figure out how to work with two money grubbing companies.
  3. New release out a few minutes ago. One was a bug fix for the chart layers.
  4. Thanks for the update Brett. Any idea why it happened (i.e. where the carbon came from)?
  5. I think I'm going to built a Mooney, 1 part at a time...

  6. Looks like a fun trip. You should have done the VFR loop around the Falls. Much more fun down low.
  7. You didn't indicate whether you have completed the required SFRA/FRZ FAA training. If not, this would give you an idea on what to expect and is required to fly into the airspace. Also, if you are IFR, things are easier. Here is the link to the FAA training site for the course. When you complete it, you will get to print a small document that will allow you to be a card carrying member of the SFRA/FRZ club. https://www.faasafety.gov/gslac/ALC/course_content.aspx?cID=55&sID=315&searchresults=true&preview=true
  8. Yep, General Yeager has basically told Mike he shouldn't be flying...
  9. Thanks Phil. I am curious how many others have this nose wheel noise. Where is 201er when you need a good poll?
  10. Thanks for the additional items to check. Based on what said, you had the noise as well. I wonder how many others like me have this noise and think it is normal. All I do know is that it is louder now with the new donuts.
  11. Thanks Mitch! I'm fishing for ideas since this issue has been going on a while and it has stumped a bunch of chumps My obvious concern is the nose gear collapsing, but as I mentioned, it has been this way for years and no one seems to be concerned -- except me. And it sounds from your answer that this is not "normal"...
  12. Since I have owned my 1975 F, I have always heard a little bit of clunking from the nose gear when crossing bumps. I have mentioned it to mechanics over the years and none have have found anything loose or worn on the nose gear. After having my donuts replaced this past annual (a couple of months ago), I have noticed the clunking was louder than before. My IA says he heard it as well after replacing the donuts. He thinks it is the mechanic stop. He, like the other mechanics who have looked at it, never nailed a cause. Do any of you hear this? I don't think it is normal, but can't nail down the cause... Any thoughts?
  13. From my understanding, the only real way to determine the cam status is to pull a jug and look.
  14. If you got 15 minutes, why not try to find 45 and fly it a bit? The concern with ground running it pertains to the temp needed to get the oil hot enough to boil off water. I've been told it was better to let it sit than ground run it. Or even to pull the prop through that some folks do as well.
  15. Chucks is in town for the holidays

B26 gives schizophrenia a whole new dimension.

  17. There is heavy glider activity at N57, so I expect these guys will have some issues. I'm also trying to understand why there is such a big cut-out for 17N. What is unique about that airport?
  18. Since you are staying linked into the folks at the factory, any word on Bill Wheat? I know he was having some health issues.
  19. What I think my esteem colleague is saying is that you have as much chance of that happening if you bought a lottery ticket.
  20. I agree. I was made aware of the change a couple of months ago. Still having a hard time with the explanation for the need to expands it.
  21. For those of you around the Class B in Philadelphia, there are significant changes to coming to the Class B. http://faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=50141&caller=/SPANS/events/EventList.aspx https://s3.amazonaws.com/images.federalregister.gov/EP31JY12.000/original.gif
  22. Them are the parts I am talking about as well. My Mooney has zinc chromate theough this area as well, but mine started some rust on the actual tubes. To the original OP, if you got rust here, definitely make sure a rent SB 208B was done.
  23. The tubes I was speaking about are the ones in the avionics bay that go directly to the elevators. The tubes on mine had rust on them. They did not appear to be made of Aluminum. Not sure what the OP is speaking about.
  24. SB 208B: http://www.mooney.com/images/pdfs/sb-pdf/sbm20-208b.pdf Water can get into the cockpit various ways (like the windows and from the roof vent area). The SB addresses the visual inspection requirement for the steel roll cage around our cockpits. As well, the spar area in the back seat area should be inspected.
  25. Yep, it's Howdy Doody time! The inhalers are like putting Vick's Vaporub right up the nostril. I agree on the ear trouble flying. Very difficult to clear out the Eustachian tube. If you have some nasal congestion, I find using a nasal rinse, like a Neti Pot helps clears things up a bit before a flight.
