  1. I run up the engine to 1800 and then cycle it the prop after the Mag check. As soon as I see a 100 RPM drop (and hear it) I put it back and repeat the excercise.
  2. I think there will be one . Otherwise shall we meet at the flying magazine tent? I have never been to Sun and Fun, so if there is any other obvious and nicer place, please suggest!
  3. great post thank you
  4. you got me...
  5. very nice and interesting article written by Les Abend, who writes normally a column for Flying Magazine. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/03/12/opinion/abend-malaysia-370/index.html
  6. Yeah... but look at the Vintaje Mooney section... we have been beating a decomposed horse for quite some time... so who knows may be now we can put him (the horse) back in the coffin... Oscar
  7. I had a similar problem, my Aspen announced out of the blue on an approach one day that it was switching over to battery power. That called my attention right away. After I landed it switched back to the main power. After looking at different options we decided that the regulator was not working well and the voltage was too low. Once I changed the regulator and adjusted the voltage it did not happen again. However, I had to also change the battery in my Aspen because it stopped charging at all... (most likely unrelated).
  8. Last time we had this discussion we had more than 200 responses, so I thought it may be a good idea to have a poll....
  9. Storm scopes and strike finder are tactical instruments, while NEXRAD is more a strategic tool that helps you think ahead of how to manage your flight. So both system complement each other very well.
  10. Shall we try to meet on Thursday at 3 pm at the mooney stand?
  11. John Thank you. I am definitely interested. Will pm you later today.
  12. The round vents in the ceiling of my cabin are getting old and cracked. I have been looking where to get them but until now I did not have any luck finding them. Any ideas? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  13. Great idea lets do a poll Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  14. FoF is the best aviation museum I have seen. The Air and Space is great, but to big. FoF gives you the hands on experience that you need. Even my two Teenage sons (who could not care less about their dad's obsession with flying) mentioned that this had been one of their best museum experiences. While we were there they flew a Fiesler Storch, perfectly restored. Very impressive.
  15. May be we should talk to them while we are there...
  16. Guys, I will be going to Sun and Fun this year (however not with my Mooney...). I was wondering who else will be there... It would be great if we could meet in person.
  17. interesting, but very unlikely. Unfortunately, because it would mean that they are still alive.
  18. Indeed, beautiful!!! Bennet I also saw the replica in the EAA museum...
  19. Check Essex County airport (KCDW). I was based there for a while and it was not too bad.
  20. I am full electroinic. There are not paper VFR charts where I fly now....The only available VFR paper charts are the old ONC charts. With mountains and bad radar coverage it is a challenge. Thank you garmin and Aspen!
  21. I use jeppview, aeroplus (weather), aviation W&B and LogTen Pro.
