  1. Me and my wife like to fly over to Fairhope alabama and spend the afternoon. There is a park right there on the bay. Also there is a pier with a diner on the water.Beautiful area with water oaks and nice ambiance. Its not far at all from destin . My parents live in Orange Beach so it is a short hop over.
  2. Hello, I have a garmin 430w in my plane and last week I started getting static over the comm 1 when the plane is running, however if I transmit for a radio check on the ground without plane running no static. I had the radio bench tested and it was fine..so..The avionics shop I went to was the first time for me because it was much closer than the other one I have dealt with in the past. The avionics guy said he would start out with a filter at a price of 125.00 plus install and some form of cable for 590.00 and could not guarantee that would work.. I told him not to do anything and I would pay him for his time. I think I am taking it to the other avionics shop which does great work and see if they can help.. If any of you have had anything like this or can offer any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance
  3. There is one on ebay Mooney Landing gear Puck installation tool on ebay. Not sure if this is what you are looking for..but here it is http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mooney-Landing-Gear-puck-installation-tool-/260971769508?pt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&hash=item3cc3212ea4&vxp=mtr
  4. Yesterday I had to fly my plane to KEKY which is only about a 25 min flight.Weather was beautiful and sunshine.I departed runway 33 and flew a heading of 050 , being a beautiful day ,I did not get the winds aloft which were 280@30. This was my first turbulant flight and was extremely uncomfortable. When I was in the pattern the wind sock was blowing straight across, so here comes the crosswind landing. It was not pretty, but I was so proud to be on the ground.I used flaps which should have forgone. So from now on ,regardless of how much sunshine is out I will always check the winds aloft.
  5. My parents live in orange beach and I travel there frequently. There is a nice airport there, jack edwards KJKA .great place to go and eat seafood
  6. I remember training for my Private pilot and the instructor made me wear the foggles while demonstrating unusual attitudes...needed a dramamine
  7. I had the bose x before and really liked them. Actually I like them better than the new zulu's I have now.Just preference.
  8. If you opted for the skin replacement, what does it normally cost labor wise to have that done? I have small hail dimples on my ailerons also.
  9. I purcghased the Concorde RG35AXC sealed battery and has been great.Like others said get a battery minder or battery tender and keep plugged in if you do't fly much.
  10. I wish they had a trade up program for the GTN 650. would have been nice if it were a direct replacement..but that would have been too easy
  11. I only had 2 hours of complex time and none in make and model and mine with a 50k hull value was only $1300 .I am only a Private pilot and not instrument rated.Seemed to be a really fair quote.I used Howard Frye and talked with Tom. Very nice and pleasant to deal with. Here is their website if interested. http://www.aircraftbankinginsurance.com/
  12. Very Nice panel Kurt..enjoyed the video..
  13. For me and my wife the E is perfect. She normally sits in the back seat of the co-pilot side and I put my flight gear in the fron seat for easy access. Works great.
  14. Sole owner of me E. It is more convenient for me to be able to go somewhere at the last minute if needed to and not have to check schedules. If I owned a more expensive plane I would have looked for a partner but prefer this way better.
  15. I have a question, I am debating on a paint job for my plane. I have not re sealed the tanks and do not currently have leaks of any kind, is it generally ok to paint the plane or should I go ahead and do the tanks first? I know its not a matter if the tanks will leak ,but when will the tanks leak.I can't do both right now but would like to get started fixing it up like I want it
  16. Well if it deletes my files I will not do it because I have WINGX pro on it now and do not want to risk losing that $99 app thanks to both Parker and Hank for the info..
  17. Mitch, that is a very nice set-up . does Jolie's Maggie have the 201 windshield? Gorgeous mooney..
  18. Very Nice GT .. enjoy
  19. I had a cirrus sr20 and liked it but the upkeep was to me ridiculous. I had a 2000 model and owned it for a year.It had very nice ramp appeal but it came with a price. It got to the point where I could not enjoy the plane because of the upkeep. I know all planes are expensive to keep up but some are definitely worse than others.I had to buy a lower priced plane and not as nice ramp appeal but I love flying and the mooney allows me to do just that.At our airport at KSEM a doctor friend of mine has a 2004 SR20 and had a cracked case. He opted to put in a brand new engine at over $30k..its all relevent though.
  20. does anyone know if there is an app I can download so I can use my ipad to post? For some reason it will not let me type.
  21. I read the same myths before I bought mine.To me it is more comfortable than the archer I trained in. I am 5'10 and big framed aka fat and fit perfectly fine. Most of the time it is just me and my wife ,so all is good with the space.
  22. MIke , The yokes feel tight during turns. I have not had much experience with mooney's but it definitely does not handle like the archer I trained in.I might need an adjustment, not sure.If anyone has any ideas I 'm open.
  23. I am thinking of doing the same thing with the PC switch. I can't tell a whole lot of difference with it pushed..
  24. When is Sun N Fun? I went one year with a friend and had a great time.I went to purchase a couple of headsets but they were not offering any deals on them.bose or lightspeed zulu.. I would really like to go this year but am a little hesitate about flying there. I am a private pilot and have not had that much experience with congestion.I know it was pretty hair raising.
  25. I have a mechanic on the field that has done me a good ob on the work so far.Seems to be in line with price on everything so far.It is very convenient to call him and tell him what i need and he gets the plane out of my hanger and handles the work and puts it back in the hanger ready to go. And only 100 yards away
