  1. Well , I start training in my mooney m20e this weekend.I have read a lot of articles about landing and to be honest it seems a little intimidating.Fortunately, where I live there is a 150x8014' asphalt runway that gets no traffic at all. so this will be the perfect place for practice.seems to me that once it gets in ground effect ease off power and let it settle down but I have no idea because I have never flown one.It will be a very interesting next few days.any advice is much appreciated
  2. Very nice Mooney..hopefully one day I can step up to your step down..very nice. hope it sells fast
  3. It is a 2 blade prop with the 100 hr inspection. I had the pre-buy done on the plane 2 wks ago and he said everything was fine. I was just wondering what to expect.
  4. Thanks, I do not need one yet just did not know what to expect when I do have to get it done..
  5. Can someone tell me what it costs to have the prop overhauled and when should it be done? I heard 10 years or 2000 hrs..is this correct? it is a 2 blade prop on a 66 mooney E.It only has around 600 hrs currently on it now. Thanks
  6. Sounds good. I went ahead and bought the fp-5l and hopefully one day in the near future I can upgrade to the 830.I want to make sure I am going to love my mooney before I start sinking thousands into it.From all the topics I think I will be well pleased with my m20e.This will be a building process
  7. Thanks Brett, I think I will wait and get the 830 in a few months. It will be a much better deal and get a lot more bank for my bucks.
  8. What does it cost to install a jpi 730 or 830? I have no clue.
  9. Thanks Brett, that makes more sense being the installation price could be on the one unit as opposed to several individual ones that can be in the one unit.I will look at the engine monitors and see what is available.I would have around $1200 for just the FP-5L alone. When I sold my cirrus sr20 I sold all headsets etc. so having to start from scratch.
  10. Thanks Scott for the information, I just looked up the insight 3g and it is around $3000 plus install.Very nice unit .Right now being I just bought the plane I am going to have to take it slow.Maybe one day it will work for me.Seems like installation prices are very expensive
  11. Brett , there is no engine monitor. Any suggestions on what to do? The aieron trim gauge is inop and that is where I wanted to put the fp-5l. There are a couple of extra places in the co-pilots side to put gauges but seem like they would be hard to see from the pilots side.
  12. Well , my plane is set to be delivered on 8-30 and being that it is going to be a week away, I am debating on going ahead and letting the shop install a Electronics FP-5L and connecting it to the 430.I have read a lot of good reviews on it and wanted all your thoughts.
  13. Gary, I might have to use the Krylon. It is definitely cheaper than the 7k paint job I was quoted.actually the original color has most of these in it already. Thanks
  14. Dave, mine has the johnson bar. I will post pics later on.. I am going to need to do a glamour shot of it though ..needs a new paint job but i am going to fly her just the way she is for a couple years. Thanks for all the support
  15. If anyone has a garmin 396 or a garmin 496 and wants to sell it,I am interested in buying one. Thanks
  16. Thanks for the help . This opens up several possibilities that I can use.thanks again
  17. Brett, where did you get the tow bar? I looked at aircraft spruce and not sure which one you have.I think your setup is ideal and would work fine for me.I can get the plane to whereas all I have to do is go straight back.
  18. I am looking for a more economical way of getting My Mooney into the hanger.I really like the powertow but seem to be pricey.I had seen a couple of pictures of a riding mower with a tow bar attatched to them, then I read about this could damage the front landing gear. For the price of the powertows I might have to just start working out. Thanks for any input.
  19. RBRIDGES, The Cirrus SR20 is a nice plane and very easy to handle. My annuals were around 8000.00 a year. I believe if I am not mistaken the parachute lines have to be re-reefed every 5 years. this is expensive. The basic annual with nothing fixed or parts was 2495.00.A great looking plane and fun to fly...I just could not justify it for the type of recreational flying I do.Thanks for the post
  20. Thanks Brett, yes this is my first mooney. I bought a Cirrus Sr20 about 2 years ago and the maintenance annuals were out of sight.I just want to enjoy flying and I think I have found the one.I really missed it.I will post pics when the plane gets to me next week. Thanks for all the positive replys
  21. I know that this is not to make a practice of it, but I notice that the airspeed indicator has a yellow arc that starts around 140kts.Why is that? I guess that is a mooney question but you all seem to have a lot of information on topics like this.Seems to be a little low.so tell me how you all fly your m20c and m20e's
  22. Well after reading all wonderful articles on this website I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 1966 Mooney M20e today.I was debating a high time 201 but was unable to get a pre-buy done on it.I hope I will be happy with the plane. It has 3250 TT and 246 SMOH by G&N .I had done a pre-buy last week on this plane and have to admit that was the best 500.00 I have spent.Joshua Groh was great to deal with on the pre-buy and very informative. The plane needs paint but does have a gamin 430 with Waas a garmin 340 and a king kx125.interior is fairly new and looks good. Thanks to everyone on the site for the information.
  23. Quote: fantom Matt....welcome again to MooneySpace! Really no need to SHOUT at us, or to post the same question on 3 or 4 threads to get our attention. You're receiving good suggestions, but it's very distracting for us, and probably a pain for you to track. Parker is giving you experienced advise; just remember he changes planes more often than most of us change underwear. Good luck with the purchase. Sorry about the multiple posts but I posted it by accident in the selling section and was unaware how to delete it.Thanks for all the replies.
  24. Hello , I am looking at a 6800 TT mooney 201 .I understand that the TT is High but should that make me shigh away from it. I was debating a F model but really like the 201 better.go figure. i know the ideal would be a lower TT 201 but that is out of my budget. The plane has fuel bladders, 880 SMOH .please let me know what your thoughts are..thanks.I am trying to pay outright for the plane. I am going through the Well for a little more I can get this one thought process but I am at the end of the budget..What are your thoughts
