Angle of Attack Indicators - Pireps Please
Txbyker replied to MrRodgers's topic in General Mooney Talk
I put an Alpha AOA in a G1000 M20R and you are correct, there are different settings for full versus half flap. Alpha sells a full flap module that you wire to a microswitch that indicates full flap. I could not wire the module to a G1000 and the Mooney flap switch has no wire post to attach to. Net result is that I sent the full flap module back for a refund and the AOA was set to show blue donut for half flap, and upper blue arc for full flap. If anyone is thinking of Alpha and the full flap module you should investigate how it works. Russ -
Thanks Anthony. It is under contract. The 4 blade is awesome, quiet, and an effortless pull on the 310hp IO 550. RPM change is almost instantaneous. I am not flying much anymore with the business and wife doesn't fly thus the sale. Maybe a supercub.... Russ

It does shoot coupled approaches with vertical guidance however Mooney makes installers mark it not supported.

Today = 1065 both airframe and engine. Compressions and Blackstone oil samples both good.

All, my mission is changing and I have decided to sell my company plane. It is listed through All American Aircraft. Contact Jimmy Garrison for more info. It will go on Controller in a week or so but this is a Facebook posting from AllAmerican... This one is just too nice not to take a peek at. One of the most meticulous owners I have ever met (keeps the plane on jacks in his hangar to preserve the shock disc elasticity) and maintained by arguably the most meticulous mechanic in the Mooney world (Brian Kendrick - former director of maintenance at Mooney). No expense spared. Corporate ownership with an open checkbook. 2005 Mooney Ovation G-1000, WAAS Equipped. ADS-B Equipped. Air Conditioned. Excellent P and I. 4-Blade MT Prop (First I have seen on an Ovation - smooth and quiet). 310hp Upgraded - Climbs like a Rocketship combined with the 4-blade. AOA with heads up display (HUD). Glass backups to G-1000. Oxygen. LED Landing/Taxi/Strobe/Beacon Lights. <1100 hours $279,000 Jimmy Garrison Office 830-438-4081 Cell 210-872-1110 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What engine are you planning, the turbo? Any idea over the overall hours you will end up putting into it? Russ

I watch Trent and Flying Cowboy videos and would love a Kitfox or Carbon Cub. But in Texas we have a lot of open spaces but no place to land given it’s mostly private. Hope you can keep us up to date on your build. Russ

Steve, ping me before and I will come in for a oil change and take you to lunch. Russ

Bummed about a Mooney down in Houston -3/31/2019
Txbyker replied to Yetti's topic in General Mooney Talk
On the local news last night they said ATC was trying to help him descend from VFR on top through the clouds. They were trying to keep him from IAH class B and from going further east of his position. Sad. Russ -
@Filippo Mine were done last year. $2500 for the EMAs and $3500 for the inflators all 4 seats, parts and labor. Russ

GTX345 not playing nice with Foreflight
Txbyker replied to wrench's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
@carusoam yes, my iPad Bluetooths to the GTX. I connect with weather and adsb traffic but no attitude. @Ragsf15e I believe the non-r and remote models are the same but with the remote you have no configuration buttons and I think you have to boot your G-1000 into config mode to see any of the GTX config info. GTX345 not playing nice with Foreflight
Txbyker replied to wrench's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
After using my GTX345R for a couple of years, I found out yesterday I am not getting attitude information on Foreflight. I never really used it before on Foreflight but knowing I am supposed to have it and I do not have it, makes me want to fix it. I am supposed to get AHRS I believe. I have a remote GTX to the G-1000 with no configuration capabilities in G-1000 pilot mode. Does anyone know if this is something I can set in the boot config? Russ -
Erik, far left bottom=8's on pylons, above that on left=steep turns, lazy 8's, emergency decents, far right=stalls, changelles??? Interesting trip. Russ

Nice. Looks like a good plan for the airport. I know some guys that would like to do the same thing it appears they are doing in Salado but in NW Houston. Wish it were closer. Russ

New Mooney Service Bulletin M20-335A, "seems serious"
Txbyker replied to Mooney_Allegro's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Looks like these could be planes since factory restart. I believe they came with a 5 year, 1000 hour warranty? Russ -
Check the metal frame on the top and make sure the paint shop put it back on so that it doesn’t create interference.

Whelen red belly beacon LED replacement?
Txbyker replied to amillet's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
This is the one @StevenL757 put on his Ovation and I copied (mentioned above in this thread). http://www.whelen.com/aviation/product.php?head_id=11&prod_id=74 Russ -
I didn’t ask but I see Lance’s @LANCECASPER post about Aero Comfort. I had no idea even though they had done my M20J years ago, guess I am getting forgetful. Russ

...Forgot to add, the pencil now magnetically attaches to the side and constantly charges on the new iPads but as clumsy as I am I kept knocking it off. I stuck one of those retainer loops on the iPad cover that still allows for the charge detection.

I have the new 11” with pencil. Heavier than my 9.7” Pro. I am not happy with what they’ve done to the pencil. I used to use pencil to open the screen, close apps etc on the 9.7 Pro, rarely having to use a finger. You have to use your finger a lot now on the 11. Pencil is good for artistry more than for utility. Also you can’t really use a screen protector because it blocks the face recognition cameras. Greasy screens! Russ
