  1. Thought some of you considering this upgrade might find interesting. Picked up plane on Friday after the ADS-b upgrade. Had GNS430 upgraded to WAAS for GPS source and installed a new GTX345. Paired up bluetooth on the iPad mini 2 with the GTX345 successfully and started the one hour flight home. I noticed Foreflight's screen was locked up after about 10 minutes into the flight and I could not zoom or move the screen. Also noticed iPad wouldn't calibrate straight and level from the GTX345 AHRS feed. Had other similar issues on the next flight with the combo such as the bluetooth link dropp
  2. Hi - I have the latest software but cannot figure out how to get lighting to display onto my GTN650. What am I missing?
  3. Scenarios: 1. We purchased the MLB100 with our Avidyne AXP 322 and IFD 540. 2. Also, we have a GDL39R being used with Garmin Pilot. 3. What we have noticed on the Garmin Pilot with a GDL-39 since around mid-2018, after the update, we now have access and can utilize the new FIS-B weather products are available such as the following: Lightning Turbulence Icing Cloud Tops Graphical AIRMET Center Weather Advisory 4. My question is since MLB unit

  5. Recently did a panel upgrade on my M20J. Thanks to this forum, ended up going with a GTX345 for ADS-B and a GTN650 for WAAS. I've been using Foreflight for years with a Stratus with no issue. However, with the new panel I am having a annoying GPS position issue when I connect to my new Garmin GTX-345+GTN650 using Bluetooth. The GPS position that I see on my Foreflight map is very 'jumpy' and seems to lag my position. As I'm flying, my position seems stuck for a few seconds - then will very quickly move/jump to a new location, or then jump back. Often it's moving/jumping ove
  6. I took my M20C in for an annual Dec.26. Last week was the first time I was able to fly it since. I still haven’t received the bill. I decided that I better go flying because once I get the bill I may not be able to afford the fuel. One of my big concerns was radio noise when I am in close proximity to the airport. I am not sure all that was done just yet but I was told that they put new connectors in the cabin ceiling. Not only did they not fix the radio noise but as soon as I took off, the tower said I was not showing altitude and told me to squawk 1200 on my almost new GTX345. Also, traffic
  7. Hi, I've been looking at getting the Garmin GTX-345 for ADS-B. I see that it connects via Bluetooth - does that mean it can only pair with one tablet at a time? One benefit of my Stratus2S is that it's Wifi - and talks to multiple devices simultaneously. I'm not sure if that can be done with the GTX345 since it's Bluetooth. For those in the know, does the GTX work over classic Bluetooth where you pair outside the app? Or does it work over Bluetooth LE (4.0) protocol that can be connected through the app automatically with no extra steps? Thx!
  8. I own a Mooney M20J (1985) with a few partners and we're looking to do ADS-B and upgrade our GPS. We currently have a non-waas Garmin 430 and have been considering an update to a GTN650 or an Avidyne IFD440. We like the interface and hybrid (buttons+touch) of the IFD440 - but we can't figure out if it will talk to a Garmin GTX 345 transponder. I talked with several avionics shops and I got conflicting answers: A) no somewhat, you can only feed waas to the GTX from IFD C) yes, GTX can get waas from IFD, and IFD can get traffic + weather from GTX An Avidyne sales support en
  9. I've just had the GTX345 installed in my G1000 equipped Ovation with S-Tec autopilot (29-0363) - one of the first installations in Australia. Firstly the background of ADSB Down Under. For some inexplicable reason, installation was mandated in Australia for IFR not later than the middle of 2017, which means we are the test subjects, and will pay a hefty premium. About 10 years ago when ADSB was in the early implementation stage, the authorities were going to subsidise ADSB, but it's been conveniently forgotten. Since then the cost has skyrocketed, not helped at all by the fact that
