  1. Quote: edgargravel Larry: I did the same thing. My girl and I spent a Saturday cutting and putting it up and along the sides. While I had everything out, we plumbed in the new 406 MHz ELT, re-installed the dome light and put in a cabin speaker (because the GMA 340 can actually power one) and replaced the broken overhead potentiometer for the shoulder lights. Funny thing about your post is I think Clarence also bought the same stuff last year and used it too. He is the one who told me about it in the first place. We got ours from the local Spruce shop (we actually have one in Canada). I got 5 rolled feet of it and we had about two square feet left over when it was done. Was yours the black stuff with the sticky backing too?
  2. Ok, so I dont know why it had me logged in as someone else!!
  3. I know that there has been plenty of tornado activity lately, but KMAI (Marianna,Fl) had a tornado touchdown at approximately 0515 this morning. There was plenty of damage. Several aircraft were destroyed and alot more were damaged. Hanger walls were knocked down also. The EMS helicopter that is based there is going to have to be Low-boyed back to Eurocopter in Texas. And 2 Mooney's were damaged. As you can see in the pics, one of the Mooneys had some damage to the right front window and the left wing tip, No one was injured as of this posting. Glad everyone was alright!!! This link will show some of the damage. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1796048696054&set=a.1796048496049.2096205.1084801958&type=1&ref=nfmaged.
  4. Great job of keeping situatiuonal awareness!! Glad all turned out good.
  5. Quote: Igor_U Ross, I have a question about the carpet (picture #2) piece surrounding the J-Bar: Is that custom made or comes with Airtex kit for Mooney? My carpets are old and green and currently I have no such piece between the seats. I’ll probably order from Airtex. Thank you. Igor ‘67F
  6. Bartow had a C-172 flipped onto its back and a Sea Bee that the Left main wound up on the right side of the aircraft. Had to work at Bartow last night (EMS Pilot). Airport was without power and land lines/internet all night, still that way when I went home this morning.
  7. For the Grand Prix circuit. They just did Sebring this past weekend.
  8. Congrats on your Maiden Voyage!! May she/he give you many more!
  9. Gary, I have talked to the folks at Bartow. They told me for the price that you ARE NOT getting a show quality paint job. You might get some runs and/orange peel. But if you weren't satisfied they would try to correct it the best they could. Jerry is the owner and doesn't shoot paint any more. His painters dodn't seem to stay there very long, not sure why that is. Other people have told me that some aircraft come out Awesome, and others not so good. There was someone one this site that got their Mooney painted there. Can't remember who it was. The pics looked pretty good. Also, John Foster is ay KLAL at the old Piper plant. I have heard great things about his operation. BUT is about $10K for a basic paint and strip. I am also looking for a paint job but since I am finishing up my interior, it will have to wait until next year. Good Luck!
  10. Glad he was ok.
  11. Congrats Dan!!! I remember Jack very well from flying Sky 10 several years ago. Jack is an awesome instructor!!! Now go and have fun!
  12. I will be there at least one day. Working on the EMS helicopter. Stop by the tent for a looksie if you would like. It is amazing, last year we had special low level cooridors in and out that were published but the tower nor the helo folks had a clue about the checkpoints we were calling. Hope it gets better.
  13. ok, Here are a couple of pics of the new seats. Sorry my cell takes small pics. Talked to Airtex today and the carpet is on backorder. Should be shipped in about 2 1/2 weeks. That's ok, gives me more time to do a more thorough job with the soundproofing and the Amsafe seatbelts(inertial reel). Hhmm, was thinking with that down time, I may just have to change those old and ugly looking panhead screws on all the side windows to countersunk. Might be coincidental since my girlfriend said I could put in new 1/4" smoked glass!!!! Glad that she supports my hobbies! I really do support hers! More to follow in the upcoming weeks as things progress.
  14. Quote: OR75 my soundproofing is "gone" disintegrated after so many years. I still wonder about the benefit of reinstalling a new one.
  15. where did you get soundproofing material from ? pre-cut ? cost ? Got the sound proofing from LASAR (Lake Aero). Went with it off the roll by the foot. Got it a little over a year ago, cant remember the price. They also have it(did) pre cut for your aircraft. But it was a few $$hundred more. I figure with my week on/off I have the time to do it.
  16. The floor carpeting costs $239.00. The sidewall carpeting depends on the year: 55-64 $951.00, 65-later $467. Mostly pre-cut. If you have the fuel selector in between the pilots feet, you have to do the cutting. Might be more but that is what I can remember from the phone conversation. Cost me right around $800 with tax and shipping.
  17. Got my old seats out and having them upholstered. Also, Have Alpha seat belts with the Inertial reel inbound on short final. They should be here today. Carpeting is also inbound from Airtex. Seats should be ready for pickup Tuesday or Wednesday. Also have the new soundproofing so I will be pulling out the old fiberglass looking stuff and putting the new stuff in while the interior is out. Got the door panel and pilots side panel on departure enroute. figure I will have my A&P look at the tubes while I have everything out. Pics to follow.
  18. I do and it does pretty well. Sometimes the Winds aloft are not accurate. But then again, when are they.
  19. This past weekend, I flew the Mooney from Florida up to Hopkinsville, Ky to visit my son and have an early Thanksgiving since I am working that day. Man, it was a very nice flight and I didn't have to worry about the TSA. I am glad that I have my Mooney now!!
  20. Good to hear that you got it resolved!!
  21. As GeorgePerry stated, all of our flights in the military are either training flights or employing the aircraft in combat. I am a retired Apache Helicopter pilot and just got my F/W rating almost 2 years ago. It is alot easier for me to go and see my kids in the Mooney than going Delta, SWA etc.. Plus if you want to stop somewhere and sightsee, just find a nearby airport. I dont think the airlines would let you do that. I fly EMS helicopters now. (It pays for my toys!!) My Mooney is all about the relaxation of an enjoyable flight and I only have to answer to myself if I decline a flight for whatever reason.
  22. I also purchased my soundproofing from Lasar. I bought it off the roll. They can also provide it pre-cut for your model. A little more pricey but it can save you some time with the cutting.
  23. You have the same vents as my 68G. I would be interested.
  24. My 68 G is rotary also.
