  1. @Microkit - Thanks for the detailed response! Larry
  2. Those of you who installed the Height Finder in the left wing inside and behind the left main gear. How did you route the cable to the panel? Did you pull the side royalite or able to just remove the side carpet panel to get over the spar? Thanks, Larry
  3. I just received my LHS. Which inspection panel is everyone using. Early on, someone mentioned installing in the left wing behind the gear. Any better sugestions? Thanks, Larry
  4. I'll be there with one co-pilot. Thanks for coordinating this event.
  5. Thanks! I looked for the TCDS, but couldn't find it for the "V".
  6. I'm having a discussion with another Mooney owner. Did the Mooney Ultra come from the factory with LED strobes on the wings and tail? Larry
  7. The Aircraft Spruce glare shield doesn't have the raised area in the middle. It would require you to modify your panel to use. Send your picture to Hector at Aerocomfort in San Antonio. He should be able to tell you if it can be repaired. I had my glare shield repaired and covered last year by Aerocomfort..
  8. Death Valley had a flash flood last month. The National Park Service (link below) shows both airports open, but there was a lot of damage in the surrounding area. Last year the asphalt was fair when I was there, the deluge of water couldn't have helped. Has anyone been there in the last month? National Park Service website
  9. OK, thanks!
  10. Has anyone received a response from Garmin or their avionics shop after sending their assert log to Garmin? Larry
  11. If the bracket is not interfering with the new installation, is it required to remove it?
  12. OP here. I followed some of Skip's suggestions. In pitch and IAS mode it seemed better. I tried alternate static, but it was too bumpy to say if there was a difference.
  13. When I change the IAS in climb mode, I try to not change more than 2 knots. Much more than 2-3 knots and it will pitch up or down to quickly achieve the speed then reverse the pitch to hold it. I'm not sure if that is a feature or a problem, I wish it were more subtle. I also get the "hunting", but its only about +/- 2-3 knots.
  14. Thanks all for the suggestions. I should be able to fly this W/E and I'll check the shafts and Alt static. I get the pitch variations in climb also, but I don't know if that is just normal in IAS mode. In cruise without the AP engaged, the G5 is steady and shows no uncommanded change in pitch.
  15. I had a GFC500 installed driven by a G5 with a G500 (legacy). I'm getting a slight porpoising of 1/2 degree up and down every +/-15 seconds in level flight smooth air. I believe that I'm also getting it during climb and descent. The pitch change is reflected in the G5 and G500, but don't know if this is the cause or reflection of the autopilot's action. The installer claims he can find nothing wrong. Has anyone experienced anything of this nature?
  16. I have flown to TX from So CA several times for annuals while my wife and I waited in the local area at a motel. My experiences have been varied, from bust their tail to get my annual completed, to advising me after they finished that they don't like to have the customer waiting as it's too much pressure. By the way, the one that said it was too much pressure, I stopped by twice while the annual was being completed, stayed less than 5 min, just to check in.
  17. Does Foreflight usually offer a discount at OSH?
  18. Remember, if you live in California and have a plane that is 35+ years old, you can eliminate the property tax by "displaying" it 12X per year. Many airports make it as easy as opening your hangar for 2 hours on a given day. The display days do not have to all be at the same airport. If you plan a little, you can combine a breakfast run and display your airplane. Larry
  19. There is an Avionics Products actuator on Fleabay now for $4200/offer. It has a 12 volt motor, but that can be changed. Even with a new spring, changing the motor, it still far less than 27K.
  20. Let me try again. Where did you source the bushings for the seat rails? Larry
  21. GeeBee - Where did you source the bushings? Or, did you just cut them from stock? Larry
  22. Decide on the autopilot first. You will kick yourself if you later decide on a Garmin AP and just installed the Aspen.
  23. I keep a seat-back organizer hanging on back of my seat. My wife is almost always with me and she has access. In the organizer are spare batteries, portable transceiver, PLB, barf bags and tissues.
  24. Richard - I took my reply offline. You should have a PM. Larry
  25. I just removed a working C2000 with electric trim, servos and trim switch off of my '90 201. I hadn't planned listing it on the classified page until next week. Message me if you're interested.
