  1. It was the metal flakes in the filter that made me decide to replace the engine (and approaching 20 years). July 2015.pdf
  2. All invoices finally received for engine/prop replacement. Total $47,893: factory rebuilt IO360A3B6 = $29,963 new Hartzell prop =$9,192 rebuild prop governor = $932 Skytec 149-NL = $431 Rapco 215CC =$329 Lord mounts $592 A&P labor & parts = $6,955 sell old spinner ($500)
  3. New Hartzell installed on newly factory re-built IO360A3B6. (One blade of 1800 hr. McCauley not overhaul able). I was only ale to fly 2 hour break in flight, then 1.3 hours to deliver plane to avionics shop for upgrades. Prop has not been dynamically balanced yet, but it runs smoother at 2600 than 2500 rpms.
  4. http://wholesaler.alibaba.com/product-detail/Emergency-Tools-multi-functional-Hammer-Window_60298007163.html Group purchase?
  5. Day 1 of avionics install
  6. Correct. My budget is less than 1/4 of that. The other Mooney was already in the shop in that condition.
  7. Chinese SOP?
  8. Sounds like a challenge to me. When Someone tells my wife she can't do something it makes her more determined to finish the job.
  9. Our 97 J came from the factory with both LEMO and conventional plugs & toggle switch to choose input. I bought Lightspeeds with LEMO plugs to eliminate the batteries which always seemed to run out in the pattern at a busy airport when I didn't have time to replace them.
  10. I dropped our Mooney off at avionics shop today for install of GTN 750, GTX 330 ES, Flight Stream 210 & DAC GPSS. This Mooney was in the shop for new panel with cost > $120K.
  11. Is that a smoke generator on your right wingtip?
  12. Yes, it was the -22, despite POH entry stating it was the -17.
  13. I am taking our J model to avionics shop next week to replace KLN90B with a GTN750. I have about 10 data base updates left on my subscription. If you can use one PM me and I will send you my user name and password. As our local radio (KONP) announcer says, "free is a very good price". Alan Miller
  14. First break in flight today. Rings may have been broken in at factory run in as CHTs at 75% 3500 ft full rich were were 279-297-312-274. #3 reads higher because JPI probe is piggy backed onto factory probe. After 2 hours I closed cowl flaps and CHTs were 325-331-350-312 at 75%.
  15. First run up of factory re-built IO360A3B6 today went great except that fuel pressure gauge pegged at top. Gauge appears to be working when boost pump is run. I also would like to know how to resolve it. Hope to fly two hour break in flight tomorrow.
  16. Re-built IO360A3B6 awaiting installation. New Hartzell prop to the right.
  17. Spinner has been sold.
  18. McCauley polished spinner & one propeller blade for M20J for sale. Contact Mike at A.C. Propeller in Seattle. (800) 253-7556. I just bought new Hartzell to go on my factory re-built IO360.
  19. Pulling nose wheel out of hangar means you have to wait while filter drains, leaving it overnight seems to work better. I put a disposable diaper under the filter then put a zip lock bag around filter while I unscrew it. Also stuff a couple of paper towels in the flat area where spilled oil collects. I can usually do it without any mess now.
  20. I have pulled the nose wheel out of the hangar to lower the angle of the filter.
  21. Sorry about the multiple posts. iPad confusion
  22. My first Mooney was a 78 J with Apollo loran and DG (no FD) and Century II. It would follow a flight plan hands free. I was surprised when I got a 97 J with KLN90B and KFC150 which requires manually turning course needle at every waypoint.

  25. Prop shop says it will scrap one blade and sell the other one for me. They'll keep hub for tear down costs.
