  1. Hi All, I am trying to compile a schedule of Mooney events at OSH17. I will have a display in the Mooney Pavilion and will be there off and on throughout the week. Stop by and say hello. Here is what I have, feel free to add. Sunday July 23: 11:00 a.m. Mooney Caravan Arrival Monday July 24: 10:00 a.m. Mooney Forum- Stage 8 6:00 p.m. MooneySpace Pizza and Beer North 40 Tuesday July 25: 5:00 p.m. Mooney Caravan BBQ Wednesday July 26: 1:00 p.m. Mooney International Texas BBQ at the Mooney Pavilion
  2. It may not be perfect, BUT, if you want the camp spot in front of my Mooney which will be parked with the Caravan, it is available. I stay at a house across the street. Just let me know and we can coordinate.
  3. I should be there with BFF Cat, but a little late. We have been invited to the Flying party again this year. Going to try to squeeze in time at both.
  4. Since I do not plan to fly outside of US, [or I can add temporary numbers] and I am vintage [1965] I decided to go with the smaller numbers. ArtCraft Paint in Santa Maria CA helped me understand the requirements [which I qualified for]. I love how sleek she looks
  5. Light Them Up! Hope you enjoy my AOPA Opinion Leaders for June: https://blog.aopa.org/aopa/2017/06/20/make-their-eyes-light-up/
  6. Wow what a fun couple of days. This is such a cool airport and event. 51st annual fly-in. Lots of community support. People remember my Mooney and of course the Moo pool and the strawberries! Got a bunch of kids in the airplane. SO many kids in the pool. A balmy 93 degrees. So many folks stopping by to admire the Mooney. Another full day tomorrow! Life is good.
  7. I just love General Aviation airports. Have had a hoot at Columbia [O22] and I have only been here 8 hours. Got to drive the golf cart, had a great dinner, watched a movie in the campground [Always] and now tucked in my tent and ready for display tomorrow. PS: the Moo Pool is full and it is expected to be 100 degrees!
  8. Well the weather looks to be hot in Columbia, but the event and the company will be very cool. Come join the fun at Columbia CA {O22} for their annual Father's Day Fly-In. Take a dip in the Moo Pool and talk to folks about GA and Mooney at our booth. I will get there on Friday. Look for the Moo camp in the aircraft only campground. Fun times for all.
  9. Come join us in paradise. You know me, there will be preferential parking for Mooneys. Fly-In Movie Night at Oceano Airport, August 5th! Mark your calendars. Family Friendly, free admission. Hay rides for kids and young-at-heart. Open to the public. Come enjoy a movie in our campground. Share with others. Oceano Airport, L52, Oceano, CA. www.FriendsofOceanoAirport.com for more details.
  10. Thanks for the comments, found a great low-time G106-A. HSI just doesn't make sense for my little E model with no AP etc. Now on the hunt for the right transponder for ADS-B that fits in to the "single Mom" budget. Install will be this fall after IFR is done. Woot.
  11. I had a great weekend. My [honorary] brother came to visit from Tampa. He had never been in a small plane. We went flying on both Saturday and Sunday. Both days I oriented him to the plane, had him taxi and when in level flight fly the plane. We were able to enjoy very smooth air both days. I just loved his comments and questions. He SO has the bug to take lessons-- just in case there are any Mooney owners in Tampa, or CFIs. Anyway--- it really took me to a great place to be able to share with him my love of flight. I also got to brag on our airplanes quite a bit. These days when I am flying either for IFR training or work, it was fun to just get in the plane and go to explore. Life is so incredibly good.
  12. Hey there, looking for a yellow tagged Garmin GI-106A VOR/LOC//GS/GPS Course Deviation Indicator (CDI) for my 530W installation. If you know of one, please send me a PM or email to Jolielucas@charter.net Going to be good to have the 530W in Maggie for my instrument work. Thanks Jolie

  15. Here is my latest installment based on MooneySpace's own Yooper Rockeman! I hope you enjoy, and share https://blog.aopa.org/aopa/2017/05/19/sharing-ga-with-people-reminds-us-how-fortunate-we-are/
  16. Here is a little piece I wrote for AOPA Opinion Leaders about Tom: https://blog.aopa.org/aopa/2017/05/19/sharing-ga-with-people-reminds-us-how-fortunate-we-are/
  17. Hey Robert, yes the event organizers sign you in. You will receive a pretty cool swag bag, and the display certificate.
  18. June 16, 17 and 18th.... Please join us for a fun, family-friendly two or three day event in the Sierra Nevadas. The Columbia CA [022] fly-in is just a hoot. There is airplane-only camping where we set up Moo Camp. We have been known to make smores, eat strawberries and burn Cheetos. Friday is a set-up volunteer day if you are so inclined. Friday night is the Burger Fry. Saturday is the Mooney Ambassador display day. We will have a canopy with children's activities and the world-famous Moo Pool. There is a pancake breakfast both days in the campground. Saturday night is tri-tip dinner. We will need help in the "booth" talking with attendees about flying, and Mooney airplanes. As well we usually get kids and grown ups in the airplane. The weather is usually super nice. Can be 80-100 degrees. The town, which is a historic national park, is dressed up like the 1840s with panning for gold, wagon trains, and horse shoe smithing. If you are planning on coming please shoot me an email to MooneyAmbassadors@charter.net Come and celebration GA and Father's Day with a bunch of your Mooney friends. http://www.fathersdayflyin.org/
  19. The best thing to do is to call MAPA or the factory. They are asking for 48 hour notice on tours. MAPA's office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:00am - 5:00pm central time Telephone: (830) 315-8008 Fax: (830) 315-8011 Email: mapa@sbcglobal.net 1885 Airport Road, Suite 100 Kerrville, Texas 78028 Mooney Factory 165 Al Mooney Road N. 20. Just to throw it out there... AOPA Regional in Norman, OK is September 8th ant 9th. Friday are the educational seminar during the day, including Pilot Plus One. Friday night is the Barnstormer's Party which is a hoot with music and food. Saturday is the regular AOPA Fly-In with pancake breakfast and nationally known speakers throughout the day. The cool thing about Norman is that if we plan on arriving together, we could also park fairly close to one another too. Camping is available on the field. Pilot Plus One YouTube Of course OSH will be a hoot. There are always things going on in the North 40 for Mooney-types especially those flying in the Mooney Caravan.
  21. Sent you a private message...

  22. Thank you! It has been an awesome day so far. Of course yesterday I got to fly the best airplane in the world and hang out at Oceano airport. Today was church in the morning, kids/nephew/nieces in the afternoon and topping off with a movie with the girls. To any other Pilot Moms or honorary Moms: Happy Mother's Day!

  24. It is these small gestures of kindness and integrity that bind our General Aviation community together. With few exceptions most pilots would bend over backwards to help another, selflessly as you did. Congrats to you. I know it feels good to you, but the memory for those kids will last a lifetime.
  25. My prop cable was getting harder and harder to pull out when cycling the prop on run up. One day it just failed. I got the new McFarlane cable actually through Mooney as they had it in stock. It was $30 more than McFarlane direct, but didn't have to wait the 10 days for it to be made. I did get a message from a Mooney mechanic that said that "Are you aware as to why the cables break? I have seen many pilots shove the cable in all the way to full high rpm, and then continue to try and go further by screwing the knob in. This has the effect of unwinding the braided cable over time and makes it wear out inside the cable housing." Hope this is helpful.
