  1. You can upload it to savvy for free and get a visualization
  2. connect to the stratus from the ifd
  3. Two sites for your bookmarks: Aircraft Query - Aviation Database - AviationDB Kathryn's Report (kathrynsreport.com) Tim
  4. I'll check it out, thx!
  5. My wife found these pics on the internet and wants a paint job. I like the teal but the number of colors makes me think the quote will be more than I want to spend...
  6. I don't have any experience with this particular tool but I used to own a RV and have bought a lot of accessories/gadgets from antisplat. All quality stuff and they are very responsive if you want to call or email. I once made a suggestion on the cup holder, the suggestion was adopted and a new one was sent to me gratis. Call me a fan.
  7. Saw this a couple months ago on the ramp at FGU. Orange isn't everyone's color but I thought it looked great.
  8. I used to be based at BLM. It’s been a while but isn’t 47N where everyone goes for cheap gas? For some reason I do remember something weird with winds there. I don’t think I’d wreck though.
  9. Great fly in, the Cole clan did an amazing job! I really do appreciate the quality tee, it's actually embroidered
  10. you guys got it made! My wife used to be in charge of tuning the radio, switching the tanks and the heat. She quiet quit the first two and now that it's getting warm I will probably fire her from the 3rd task since I don't want to bake in the cockpit.
  11. Just want to publicly thank and endorse my ferry pilot and transition CFII @Browncbr1 Craig was highly profession and accommodating schedule-wise. He also helped me fix a couple items and taught me plenty of “things to know about a Mooney” along the way. First class act and a Mooney expert! We both live in Tennessee but if you need his services, give him a shout to see if you’re within his range, it’s worth it and you won’t regret it. Tim
  12. @RLCarter - are you talking about the original jack asked about or one of the others in the thread?
  13. As soon as you declare success I’m going to order one or two as well
  14. I had rigged up a bottle jack for my RV7A. I only used it to jack one side and pull a wheel. It wasn’t as solid as an expensive wing jack but it didn’t feel unsafe either. I would not have trusted two to get the whole plane off the ground but one side and some blocking under the axle worked fine.
  15. Thanks @PT20J, did you mean to say idle speed vs idle mixture? I didn't touch the mixture but idle speed was definitely more sensitive than I anticipated.
  16. Like others have already said, couldn't agree more based on my last plane. I'm going to add a twist for any other new owners. I bought my J a few weeks ago from NM and had it ferried to TN. My most outstanding ferry pilot / transition CFI told me we have to adjust the idle or I would have a very hard time landing. I assume the idle shot up due to the change in field altitude. Adjusting the idle was one of the easiest things I've done on an aircraft. We also checked idle mixture while we were at it. He knew what to do but I watched a YouTube video.
  17. I looked at this plane pretty closely and live close. My spidey sense was on high alert after speaking to the broker. There are photos online of this plane rotting on a ramp. There are corrosion related repairs in the log book. Like the OP said, barely flown and it has also fallen out of annual multiple times. The paint looks beautiful but I passed. it took me 6 months to find a good J model within my price range (which I went over btw), if this was a good deal it would have sold by now. To the OP, you did the right thing by asking here for advice.
  18. Got this from my old EAA chapter, I didn't find it while searching the forums so hopefully this isn't old news FAA NPRM NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING (NPRM) Part 0, Section 000 (a) 1(c) Section I - No pilot or pilots, or person or persons acting on the direction or suggestion or supervision of a pilot or pilots may try, or attempt to try or make, or make attempt to try to comprehend or understand any or all, in whole or in part of the herein mentioned Aviation Regulations, except as authorized by the Administrator or an agent appointed by, or inspected by, the Administrator. Section II - If a pilot, or group of associate pilots becomes aware of, or realizes, or detects, or discovers, or finds that he or she, or they, are or have been beginning to understand the Aviation Regulations, they must immediately, within three (3) days notify, in writing, the Administrator. Section III - Upon receipt of the above-mentioned notice of impending comprehension, the Administrator shall immediately rewrite the Aviation Regulations in such a manner as to eliminate any further comprehension hazards. Section IV - The Administrator may, at his or her discretion, require the offending pilot or pilots to attend remedial instruction in Aviation Regulations until such time that the pilot is too confused to be capable of understanding anything.
  19. Hi all - I'm working on a 530w to 750Xi upgrade and either the comm panel or xpdnr needs to move. My options are: Move one of the two out of the center stack to the co-pilot Remote one of the two If I have to remote something, I would remote the comm panel over the xpdnr. When in turbulent air, physical buttons on a transponder would be preferable but now that I'm typing that out, I touch the comms panel more than the xpdnr. Has anyone been faced with this? What did you choose and are you happy with the result. I did search for previous threads, my keywords failed me.... PS: While I have a RV in my profile, the question if for a Mooney 231.
  20. Congrats! see you in our local airspace! Tim N197RV
  21. Ha! I'll up the plot twist. I started the thread and am based at FGU. Hope to see you in CHA airspace, look for a Cub yellow RV :-) Tim
  22. Thanks all. I will request the logbooks.
  23. Hi All, I'm new here and an aspiring Mooniac. I currently fly a RV7A but have a changing mission. I saw a nicely outfitted and looking J model that I'm looking for some feedback on. Airframe TT: 4349.8 Hobbs: 1685.4 <- meter was replaced as per logbook entry Engine TT 7320 SMOH 828.9 Compression: #1 70/80. #2 69/80. #3 76/80. #4 70/80 How does the airframe have less time than the engine? Would that indicate a used engine from another plane was put in? Any other reasons anyone can think of? I have not yet asked for the full logbooks. Engine TT of 7320 - does that number scare anyone? Yes, I noted SMOH is 828. Does the block become unserviceable?
