Adding a landing/pulsating light to the J and K wingtip

Field approval? -
Well to have a backfire or afterfire, you would need raw gas in the exhaust. Running out of gas by definition there is no gas in the exhaust or cylinder or intake and your sparkplugs are still firing as the prop windmills in the air so when you switch and gas starts coming back in your motor will start running super lean to lean as pressure builds and fuel flow returns to normal if you are lop or through peak to rop what ever your fuel mixture was last set to. The popping you get as the mixture comes back online can be reduced if you pull the throttle to idle before you switch and then push it back in after fuel is there basically what you do every engine shutdown and start.

Does river falls airport have rentals?

Well rats this Saturday is the last show for this year. Bummer. Will have to keep it under wraps until next year and plan on the week of the 4th of July so as to see fireworks at the end of the show. Bummer they do not go to at least labor day weekend. It’s just too hot in August and kids are getting ready for school etc.

Well for that matter too much oxygen is toxic too. Diving on nitrox or just oxygen at 42% limits you to 60ft as any deeper and you risk oxygen toxicity when induces convulsions which makes it extremely hard to keep a regulator in your month by then.

Actually i find that non pilot passengers handle it way better when you pre brief them what is about to happen and that you are intentionally doing it and it’s normal. Then when it happens it’s a non event. I even say there it it is reach down at a normal speed and turn the selector valve. Whereas the complete surprise followed by yelling a cuss word while jumping in your seat and snatching the switch over i find generally puts them in hysterical mode with even pants wetting and swearing never to fly with you again.

Resurrecting an older thread just to see what people who have had the dynon system now for awhile, what the like, don’t like, would do differently if they were to do it again in the future. Including their autopilot, how has it been performing etc.

I have a JPI711 which is a 700 but with certified TIT unfortunately because the 700 and 800 are not primary for tit i either have to go jpi900 or reinstall a certified tit gauge if i want to go tio the 730 or 830. Jpi does not have any more new 700 or 711 screens but said if i found a good 700 screen they can apply it to my 711. Would you have any just 700 screens available? Or screen on a faulty main 700 device?

Craig, so often people think it’s the hardware that defines a capability but it is in reality the software and its requirements that produces maximum results. I know my mooney hardware would have never reached it maximum potential if it wasn’t for its mooneyspace software (and all of the collective mooniac hive minds that contribute) that has educated and informed me better. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for providing such a service as it truly makes my mooney more enjoyable valuable and easier to service. Will.i.am -
Sleepiness is just one of many symptoms you can have of becoming hypoxic. That’s why you see most babies and small children that are crying on the ground in the cabin goto sleep once the cabin gets up to 8500ft. Yes i have tested professional pilots that were below 87% at 8500ft and they didn’t feel anything was different or wrong and they were performing all their duties normally. They even think the device is not working properly until they put on an oxygen mask and it goes up to 99%. Again get your base line at sea level. You might be surprised to see you are not at even 95% on the ground! What worjs for one person could be lights out for another person at that level. Just like we note what the egt is at sea level and keep that number in the climb for best power. I keep what i read at 10,000 as my bare minimum for anything higher.

I don’t have a turn and bank and my aircraft is ifr certified. Look at the secondary adi with ball slip indicator they will have an stc that they satisfy ifr as replacement for the old bank and slip indicator.
-
Yea i have never been was recommended by another pilot i flew with. My wife is a music teacher and my daughter is in choir so hoping to surprise them with going on a weekend evening as i have not told them about it.
-
I would just get an electric second ADI with ball slip indicator. Much easier to fly off of an adi than a turn and bank indicator.

Starter Adapter now, new airplane is snakebit!

This is why i so wished the laws in the auto industry would be applied to the aviation industry in that any work to be performed must be in writing with a signature approval on that letter BEFORE work is preformed. None of this assuming what the customer will want and doing the work first then handing the customer the bill. -
has anybody been to the Texas outdoor musical in Canyon, Texas? Was it worth the trip? Tips? Things you would do differently? Was the bbq dinner worth it?

McDonals observatory in west texas is worth the trip.

My daughter is into astronomy so i noticed mc donalds observatory does star gazing parties and i took her to one. We loved it. Flew into alpine airport and there was one family owned rental car that we used for the 2 day experience The only negative is go when it’s a new moon. We had a sliver of a crescent moon and i did not realize how much even that little amount of moon destroys your night vision to see even just the milky way. -
Maybe true in cfi world but in part 121 world it is not. Had my sim partner that was going for checkride in the sim but had his 1st class lapse into a 2nd class check airman said no problem for sim check just make sure you have your class 1 by the time you get to the flight line. We passed our check rides that day but he found out later that week check airman was mistaken and he had to go get his 1st class medical and then retake his checkride again because his first checkride was invalid for not having a 1st class medical at time of check! I think that is insane of a rule since you are in a sim not a plane and the whole point of a first class is to try and vet you are not going to have a medical issue while up in the air. But the faa is rarely logical.

I have heard before about the trigger to breathe is off of co2 and not o2. Had not thought about hyperventilating before a big breath to dive could setup you up for running out of o2 before the co2 level forced you to breath again. I do know for rebreathers they have Co2 scrubbers and your exhaled breath has so much oxygen left unused that very little from the O2 tank is injected that the rebreather is time limited on the co2 scrubbers filling up before the O2 tank runs out.by a factor of 3. Also why giving CPR and breathing into the patient still has enough O2 for them to survive on. I would have thought hyperventilating would get enough co2 flushed out that the lungs could use more effectively (efficiency) the O2 in your lungs since it would take longer for the CO2 to build up forcing another breath. I added another 40 seconds to that breath hold above by hyperventilating before the breath hold so flushing out the CO2 does delay my urge to breath for longer. I wonder why the body triggers off of CO2 need instead of O2 need? Seems the priority is backwards.
-
Also heard but not tried yet, to take apple airpod rubber ear pieces as they will slip over cannula nose tips and then seal in your nostrils thus when you breathe from your nose you get 100% of the O2 in the cannula by avoiding outside air slipping around the cannula tips and diluting the O2 mixture. Will have to try that sometime just haven’t had the need to yet as taking full breaths have worked so far for me in mitigating low O2 levels. Might also help o2d2 devices as well since it would reduce the air diluting there as well.
-
I wonder if your breathing shallow beeaths abd the full bolus of O2 is not reaching your lungs? I find when i get to higher altitudes my breathing gets shallower until i notice the drop or my o2 ring buzzes then it reminds me to sit up not slouch and take deliberate deep breaths and that improves my o2 sat
-
To test your oxymeter just hold your breath you can see your O2 drop as you keep holding your breath. I used to be able to hold my breath for 3 mins but with age I’m struggling to hold past 90 seconds which is the first dip and my o2 went to 83% before rapidly recovering with just 2 breaths then i laid down and was able to hold my breath for 130 seconds or 2 mins 10 seconds and again it hit 83% before bouncing back up. But the O2 ring is very quick reacting to my levels. Just some more info and a data point.

Wow this thread blew up since I made my post on 2 people above 14k. For the Karen that wouldn’t use an Inogen for 2 at 14k I will just leave the picture attached showing that LEGALLY I can fly at 14k for the whole trip and I am not required to give my passenger ANY oxygen at that altitude for part 91. And that 91% is unsafe I am positive he has never used a pulse oxy meter to read his values without oxygenation at 12,500ft because I know it would not be at 98% or better. 89% is the suggested lower limit but I have measured passengers and pilots on commercial flights that were below 88% at just a cabin alt of 8500ft!!! And all of them felt fine and were shocked to see their number so low and never would have known if it wasn’t for me giving them an oxymeter to test their levels. I have 2 meters and for the Karen that screams they are some times not accurate, for the pilot that was at 87% he put on his oxygen mask and within one to 2 breaths the oxymeter reading shot up to 99% so oh yes that cheap oxymeter I had was reading his o2 stats just fine. If you sit up and do some deep breathing you can improve your percentage by 2 or 3 points with the best improvement one guy got 6 points better with his focused breathing. Get a baseline reading first. Hell you could be hypoxic on the ground if you are terribly out of shape or have a medical condition. But by inogen saying only to 14k for 2 people and a passenger doesn’t have to have any oxygen supplement at all at 14k really shows it’s a lawyer legality as the inogen can produce a bolus every 6 seconds and most people do not breathe that fast at rest so some oxygen will get to the passenger even though they don’t need any at all from the inogen. But the oxymeter will give you feedback as to whether it’s working or not for you.

That might be more so for winter time but in summer time when isa can be as high as +15 degrees hotter than standard that cooler air up higher just is not there and what is there is not cool enough to offset the less density of the air there. Consequently i never have a problem in the winter as i do in the summer up high. Also when i start my descent i do not change my power setting i just lower my nose and start a 300ft descent and enjoy the extra speed to help offset the slow speed climbing up to altitude. At first the temps reduce due to the increased airspeed and better cooling but quickly stabilizes after the first minute or so. Then i see a steady drop in cht even as i get lower and slower due to the air getting more dense. Also the temperature is rising as well even though I’m still generating the same amount of power and heat during that time. Maybe something else besides air density is what is helping cool my engine as rising air temp and slower tas is not.
-
Even with a normalized boost, problem is air is thinner the higher you go up so does not convectively cool as good as when you are down low where the air is thinner. Normally aspirated engine not a problem because power is also reduced. But with an engine that can produce 100% power in thinner air you are going to have heat dissipation issues. .

Can you not put another fuel level in the aux tank? Thought I read where cies system can have up to 4 float sensors per side.
