  1. I think Poncha at Salida is the least technical, most predictable. Maybe slightly out of the way but it will get you on the better side of the range. I always find the east side of those mountains is some of the most turbulent air around. Check out Mosca too. It’s a little north of La Veta and seems a little more calm to me.
  2. There is really not that much to Leadville. It's cool and all, but entirely untechnical. You fly up a giant valley from Salida and the airport is in a huge clearing. You do get to fly by Independence Pass which is cool but I wouldn't consider it mountain flying - if you come in from the south. I've had my E in there plenty and it's fine. My biggest concern is always getting the plane started after shutdown at that altitude! Obviously, go early in the AM and don't do dumb stuff.
  3. I've posted pics on here of two sets of clubs in the backseat of my E. Not a lot of extra room. Two adults + clubs is very doable, three sounds difficult.
  4. Was this the mod? http://mooneyspace.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=34072
  5. You’ve got foldable seats in your E? That’s awesome!
  6. Mine is in that bag up at the top. Was about $30 on Amazon and works well.
  7. I think all it's all about your pain threshold! For me, changing the position of the bars or the seat is something I don't want to mess with so I'm optimizing for ease-of-transport. Getting this in there is really quite easy. I grabbed a basic bike bag off Amazon and just lay it across the backseat. I'd strap it in for actual flight. Next time I'll probably drop the wheelset in the luggage area instead of this.
  8. If anyone is curious, it works! I didn’t disassemble the seat post or aerobars. Just removed the wheels. Not a lot of room for passengers but you can at least get to the race with your gear!
  9. Does anyone know of an individual who can service the altitude hold components of the Brittain APs? Kevin doesn't work on this and I'd like to get some work done on mine. Thanks.
  10. Thanks, it’s sold! I just can’t change the title on my phone still...
  11. Mountain Air Aviation, 303-469-1380
  12. Call Greg at Mountain Air. He works on a lot of Mooneys (mine included) and could possibly help you out.
  13. The ACK 406 because I want to travel to Mexico.
  14. Transmits on 121.5 and 243.0. No external antenna. No remote switch. Was installed directly behind the pilot seat in my plane. Works well. Battery good through 6/2022. $100
  15. Any chance there is a 600115-005 intake boot in that?
  16. Anyone got first-hand experience with Heart of the West in Buffalo, WY? I found some 5+ year old threads here and on Beechtalk but nothing more recent. Curious if anyone has any experiences they'd be willing to share. Thanks!
  17. I forgot your wife was a big photographer! I just bought the new iPad Mini with the 8mp camera. It's certainly better than my iPhone camera. Do you know about the ND filters for the iPads? Do they work pretty well?
  18. I'm looking for a new camera to shoot when I'm flying, primarily terrain shots. I want something that will work well from the plane (through the windows, filtering the prop, etc) as well as on the ground shooting sports, vacations, kids, etc. Ideally something pretty small and maybe $1000 or less. I've been looking at the Panasonic LX100 and Sony DSC-RX100 IV. Anyone got any tips?
  19. I’ve got an E at KBJC if you ever want to chat or take a look.
  20. I'm looking for your experience, especially with the internal antenna. I'm looking to replace my old 121.5 EBC and this seems like the most reasonable upgrade path for me.
  21. I live on the Front Range of CO so consider that as this may be local, but I always have the same two: 1) Why is it so windy? 2) Why is it so bumpy? I have your book (great book, btw!) and understand the basics but more times that not, I can't figure out why these two phenomenon are not explained (to me, at least) in the combination of progs and winds aloft so I end up relying on the 'mets and the Foreflight models. And a possibly related #3: How do I read a mid-level prog? I can't even find where I am on those!
  22. Re: the high vacuum, is it consistent throughout flight or only on takeoff / high power settings? My high vac light will occasionally come on during the takeoff roll but turns off by the time I'm at cruise. I also have a gauge that shows it just barely out of the green so it's not something I worry about too much.
  23. Nothing to add except to say that as a dad of a T1D kid, it's awesome to see you doing this! It's a terrible disease but you seem to be managing it better than most. There isn't really anything T1Ds cannot do, except it seems, fly airplanes for a living without a hell of a challenge. There was a guy on the Juice Box podcast not too long ago that was the first airplane pilot with T1D. Check it out and good luck!
  24. Yes no luck. Supposedly more will be in stock mid February.
  25. If anyone else has an intake boot, I'm in need of one as well!
