  1. Have you tried any of the suggestions given to you here?
  2. I’ve seen a number of mags come back from overhaul with the cover on the back grounding out the cap. Probably going to be the mag, but disconnect the PLead and try it to rule out the switch.
  3. That’s insane. It should be about a 15 second fix plus the documentation to teach the purchasers how to update. if you have the raspberry pie version I’m sure the file that has the function for getting the data is plain text and you can probably edit it yourself.
  4. The API appears to be working normally. https://aviationweather.gov/api/data/metar?ids=KPOC
  5. I would strongly suspect with that amount of corrosion, it’s likely that’s why it ended up abandoned and in the shape you found it. that has been there for a while.
  6. It’s too bad that immediately this amusing post was hijacked by people who unfortunately have the need to make their concerns your concerns with absolutely no background history, context, or information.
  7. If the seller is willing to negotiate it’s worth a look. But 95k is a solid no. it’s going to need some attention a few different places but it’s just as likely to be a good unit as it is bad from looking at the pictures.
  8. Those sound bogus without actually looking. You don’t know until you look. it isn’t always helpful or useful when an internet no it all assumes something for you. It actually happens a lot around here and has caused a lot of people to pass on good airplanes.
  9. Most if not all covers will cover the glass and most of the doors. Bruce covers.
  10. It’s not made out of paper. Do what you want based on your needs. If you keep it clean and covered, and overall take care of it you will be fine outside.
  11. Even if the mark was applied, would the cowling have come off and would it have been checked? I bet not.
  12. Correcting a lie and embellishment is NOT “making an impassioned case”
  13. No, it isn't. I quoted the NTSB for you in my previous comment. You said the problem was, quote - "Final is out. Cause of the crash landing was owner assisted maintenance resulting in improper tightening of the fuel system components. There was a fuel leak causing the engine to run excessively lean and hot. See NTSB CAROL." That is NOT the cause of the crash. When you tighten, torque, replace, adjust any line, it should be tested. They were both hands on, neither of them tested it. This has nothing to do with owner assisted maintenance and I WOULD be willing to bet the mechanic would have missed it as well. He's covering his ass here.
  14. Get outta here with that BS. That is NOT what the NTSB said. They both missed it. “Probable Cause and Findings The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident to be: Page 1 of 6 The total loss of engine power due to the failure of maintenance personnel to properly tighten the fuel supply line b-nut at the manifold valve during installation.” 7.5 flats is quite a lot I think. I don’t believe I’ve ever measured tightness that way though. There’s nothing wrong with owner assisted maintenance or owner maintenance in general. In fact, I’d say most owners are more particular about their machines than the shop.
  15. Go there and get your thing, or, go there and get your money.
  16. I wouldn’t want anything capable of sliding around in the front seat position. All it takes is one bump for it to slide into the yoke
  17. Who is Howard. this one went way over my head.
  18. Or the ASI could have been old and worn and it didn’t take well to being pushed beyond what it normally sees in flight. I think you just get a new ASI and call it done.
  19. Doesn’t have anything to do with the Mooney and you don’t need a Mooney mechanic. you should listen to the shop. Sounds like they are correct. It’s not complicated.
  20. This is for that extremely high priced F? I’m down at KPOC.
  21. Ah. Got it. I’m an electrical guy with very little metalworking knowledge.
  22. While that may be true, designing anything that flexes aluminum like that as either a normal direct funtion, or indirect function is bad design.
  23. That really doesn’t seem like a thing that should flex.
  24. That’s what happens when you keep an open mind.
