  1. I do it with a Sentry on my 440
  2. It’s not. It’s mounted right there under the prop. very easy to inspect.
  3. hopefully less than one as it should have been inspected at annual. (At least)
  4. The last guy that said this hit some runway lights and blamed it on his trim indicator.
  5. Trim does not stop you from landing coordinated. You don’t set your trim based on the indicator in flight, but rather adjust as needed, so I’m not sure how that was a factor.
  6. How does a rudder trim indicator result in you going off the runway?
  7. Put a charger on it. Wait an hour for it to cool. Try again. the Bendix is still engaged. It will become unengaged when the engine starts - probably.
  8. I’ve been filling my own tanks with an oxygen concentrator for a few years now. when I was curious and tested it it was 98% and dry. good enough for me.
  9. Remember that time there was a big cry fest from “manufacturer x” about the owner produced up/down lock blocks? even though “manufacturer x” didn’t actually have a way to manufacture and sell said blocks? reverse engineering isn’t that difficult, owner produced parts are possible, and even if they want to cry about intellectual property or some other BS, it isn’t going to stop people from going that route and using those parts anyway. just like everyone did with the blocks despite them being “quarantined “. if someone wants to send me a bad one I’ll reverse engineer it and sell you the data along with an “example unit” for you to evaluate.
  10. Well, a Ferrari beats a Porsche any day if the week.
  11. It’s absolutely a different animal and needs to be respected. Just because it’s capable of aerobics doesn’t mean you need to do aerobics. the biggest accident factor in the Glasair 3 seems to be people putting on a show. it’s happiest landing fast, it’s capable of flying slow.
  12. So you chose to completely ignore all the information given to you to make this comment? 58 is not a sacrifice for a stall speed, my useful load is the same as a rocket, and I can land on the same runway as modern Mooney.
  13. I believe someone recently received a carbon heritage kit.
  14. Yes its 2 seats and luggage space depends on how it was built. I have a ton of storage space in mine and it’s nearly impossible to get it out of CG. the stall speed is quite low. No worse than the J. But, the AOA at 65-70 kts is a bit extreme. You can land it that way, but not happily. come in fast, level it out, let the power out and it sets right down. It’s NOT a short field airplane.
  15. If you don’t fly it like a dingus it’s not unsafe at all. if you do a bunch of cowboy BS in it, it will get you.
  16. So the gear is absolutely a thing that requires a lot of maintenance. It’s metal hose to the wheel wells, and flex hose from there to the actuators. the lines and the actuators are prone to leaks. it’s an airplane you want to own jacks for, but it’s really not that complicated to keep going. Do all the preventive work and you will be fine.
  17. My airplane stalls at 63/64 kts. About the same as a J
  18. You’re right, I did this between 12/14gph running rather ROP for a cross country machine, those 2 things are everything.
  19. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N540TM/history/20230624/1937Z/KPOC/KPTV/tracklog
  20. The answer to your question is - nothing.
  21. Good news is I have a set of up/down lock blocks should someone want them.
