  1. I'm not aware of it's ability to swell the o-ring...I was taught to use it as a lube for installation, and see no harm to applying it to the inner o-ring in the cap, but there could be something better suited out there.... as far as DC55 keeping the o-ring lubricated for any length of time, I have no idea how long it would last.... I am curious whether EZ-Turn (sometimes used in fuel selector valves and primers to keep them operating smoothly) might be a good solution, as it won't migrate when immersed in fuel- but I have no idea what it's low temp characteristics are..
  2. O-Ring grease (such as Dow Corning Molykote 55) on the small, inner O-ring would be appropriate, as it is a dynamic O-ring.
  3. I just need the cowl flap assembly- IM sent to @TexMooney
  4. Keep in mind that the new one has an internal balun and so you may have to run a new coax cable up the tail with a BNC fitting on it.
  5. This is the one that fit my 1964 M20D VOR Antenna
  6. The one that fits a piper from Aircraft Spruce is a perfect fit.
  7. Type Certificate Data Sheet. Mooney TCDS
  8. You can take a length of hose and place it over the vent tube on the bottom of the wing.... Turn the fuel selector to “off”, splash the fuel cap with a Little dish soap/water solution, and blow into the vent line. Look for bubbles at the fuel cap.
  9. Anybody try these yet? Steady / Pulsating Position Lights The idea is kinda interesting. I am wondering if the bulbs automatically reset to “constantly on” every time you shutdown. If they simply change from constant to pulse every other time the power is applied, that would be a PITA during the day to figure out whether they are pulsing or not. Any reviews yet?
  10. I'm curious about how the push-to-start function works now. I assume it's exactly the same- you must still push to start? Would be nice to be able to swap out that ignition switch for the simpler one- is that addressed in the instructions, if you are replacing the left magneto on a shower of sparks system?
  11. Every aircraft tire I have put up on a spin balancer has been well out of balance, whether new or worn.... if you believe it's the tire, then pull it off and get it balanced- that would be an easy fix!
  12. Excellent solution.....just don’t put it on a vented cap and forget to remove It on your preflight!
  13. I'm far from the hangar and am trying to prepare for a prop balancing session- does anyone know whether the bolts that hold the spinner back plate on are AN3 or AN4? And the length possibly, as well? Any help appreciated. I 've got the factory Hartzell two-blade CS prop, as pictured...
  14. +1 on jacking the plane- grab the wheel and move it side to side...
  15. Congrats. Great looking plane!
  16. My wife is horrified every time I reach over to crank something on the wall before we start the engine....
  17. Yes, but the step won't go up and down...
  18. Anybody ever try these? Way cheaper than pedal extensions....
  19. Very true..
  20. I also have the sb202 spacer installed and have never flown the plane without it (the plane came to me that way). I am curious if anyone has noticed (before-after) a difference in the amount of back pressure required to raise the nose for take-off.....the SB202 spacer lowers the height of the nose, thereby lowing the AOA during the initial part of the takeoff roll. The spacer also decreases prop-to-ground clearance, which is an undesirable side effect.
  21. Hmm... how do you find roads that are exactly 30 degrees apart? Or are you interpolating everything in between N and S?
  22. When mine goes, that means it's time for a vertical card compass...
  23. I poked my $40 Amazon iPad borescope bough one of the manifold outlets to help me see the wire while I was threading it through the little clamp fitting... Made it go a lot faster, as I couldn’t see what I was doing otherwise. Pop the cap off the side of the box and you can access the wire clamp.p with a long screwdriver.
