  1. Very good point. Thank you. Tom
  2. I set my k factor so I have a little more remaining in the tank than the totalizer says. Tom
  3. Weep No More just told me they are booked through September 2022.
  4. The airport fuel tanks are above ground. My plane is at the same airport above ground. The plane fuel tanks and the airport fuel tanks sit all night without any sun before I fuel the plane. At 6am how much difference can there be in the temperature in the airport tanks and mine. It is not like we have any control over the temperatures and in fact who cares if our readings are off 2.3%. I don't.
  5. My new flowmeter and JPI 900 were installed last Fall. My k-factor is now 27.5 and my error is 2.3%. During Covid I have been using the same fuel pump and usually refuel at about 6am. I doubt that temperature is playing much of a factor in my calibration. Tom
  6. My 231 had an electric backup vacuum.
  7. How did you manage 1600 mi in 4 hr? That's 400mph. Were you in a Mooney?
  8. Does this apply to rebooting the GPS in the air?
  9. My calibration was done twice (about 2 -3 months apart) on a large asphalt pad about 1/4 mile from any structures. There are seldom any other planes or anything else on the pad. I don't think anyone would classify my installer as "lazy". He seems very conscientious and truly concerned about the error. He just hasn't found a solution to the error and Garmin has been no help. Tom
  10. I've contacted 4 installers and none of them will take on this problem. My only solution is to try to get a copy of the calibration procedure and try to fix the problem myself. Getting the calibration instructions is next to impossible.
  11. Why is it so difficult to get maintenance done? Is the number of repair facilities decreasing at a higher rate than number of GA aircraft? In January I had to give a $1000 deposit to reserve a spot for my April annual. Wilmer can’t seal my fuel tanks until September 2022 and Don Maxwell hasn’t responded to emails or phone calls. This seems to be the norm and makes it difficult to keep the planes flying.
  12. No, it has not been resolved. The magnetic interference and vibration tests have been repeated and checked out OK. I would love to see what the installation manual says. I have all but given up that the magnetometer reading will be closer than 9 degrees. Thanks. Tom
  13. I measured the distance the throttle knob had to be out for 16''MP. The shops used that to set the alarm switch. But sometimes the warning comes on at 23MP and sometimes 19. Never been able to get any consistency or even close to the warning coming on at 16MP. I don't have much resistance in the cable. I tried increasing/decreasing the friction but that doesn't make the vernier work. I am open to any ideas because Macfarlane said to work with the installer and the installer has given up on the cable working correctly. Same with the second MSC.
  14. My new Macfarland vernier throttle cable would be "slick" if the vernier actually worked. I can rotate mine 10 turns without any change. To get the vernier to work I have to push in while turning clockwise and pull slightly when turning counterclockwise. I've ended up using it as a non-vernier cable. Also, according to my MSC, the notch on the cable makes it almost impossible to set the landing gear low MP warning. I have had 2 separate service facilities try to adjust the alarm and they both gave up. It seems the cable needs some more design time.
  15. Thank you guys. I have definitely been making it more complicated than it needs to be. Tom
  16. My 231 has JPI 900, GAMI, intercooler and Merlyn. I have some questions as to how often we need to check that we are still at a safe LOP mixture: 1. On a multi-hour flight at the same altitude how often should we redo the lean find test and set the mixture. 2. If the MP changes on level flight, and we adjust the MP back to the original MP setting do we need to redo the lean find and adjust mixture, or will we always be safe at the MP we originally set the LOP mixture? 3. When changing altitude, do we need to redo the lean find and adjust mixture if we maintain the same MP at which we originally set the LOP mixture? Thank you.
  17. You actually run full throttle with an intercooler??? What is your MP?
  18. Are you using the memory stick that came with the 930?
  19. Last week I had my MSC install the Mooney 3" peddle extensions. They did not like the angle of the peddles and called Mooney. They were told to remove the belly pan and adjust the peddles there. You might want to talk to Mooney. My extended peddles took a few landings to get use to them. it is very easy to over-brake and lock up the tires during short field landings.
  20. The plane is in for the annual. Will try to remember to post a picture when I get the plane back.
  21. I also installed new Precise Flight electric speed brakes. I paid less than $100 to have the trim piece painted to match the wing. It looks VG.
  22. I just had my steam gauges replaced with GI 275's, Cies fuel senders, JPI engine monitor and a Garmin 255 installed and it took 7 weeks. The estimate for my new GFC 500 is 2-3 weeks.
  23. I haven't had the 345 removed and tested but occasionally I have asked several ATC facilities if it is working and their answer always is that it is working. It will get it's 2 year test in a few months. Tom
  24. My 345 stopped transmitting when the shop forgot to reconnect the wire to the antenna after the belly was removed. Only way I knew there was a problem was ATC said I was not transmitting. Tom
  25. No. I am asking what is the electronic screen in the copilot window 27 seconds into the video. It looks like a huge deviation card. Tom
