  1. SAME, I even have personal experience. I've owned 2 2014 Jeep GrandCherokees, 1 V8 and 1 EcoDiesel. the wife absolutely hated the V8 due to crappy gas mileage, i believe she was getting something like 18mpg. swapped it for the EcoDiesel which is averaging about 26mpg and 30+ hwy, no more complaints. i was so impressed our next car was a turbodiesel, no bs, she stops for gas maybe once per month. My next car will be a gmc 1500 turbo diesel or electric something or other
  2. After paint, fuel tanks and a new deltahawk engine, i don't want to hear anyone complain about me selling my E for 300k
  3. Home Depot paint stir/measuring sticks, Dipped the tanks prior to refueling and after a few weeks i had all marks neccessary. used a blue/black jel pen, once the ink is dry/absorbed into the stick, gasoline will not take it off never bothered to empty a tank
  4. Get the 235hp variant and move the battery far back in the tail, add a second if necc
  5. I'm planning the same, partly due to having a surefly, mostly because it looks cooler
  6. Gear ups really aren't that big of an issue, usually ends up with an inspected/new engine, new prop and some replaced sheet metal. as for prebuys, they are really just a crap shoot, I just said the heck with it and had birdy annualed.
  7. yes, Kevin Westbrook, I just realized last flight how much I like my brittain, it just isn't horrible. if i had altitude hold, i probably wouldn't be waiting on trutrak
  8. you know, this is a thing. never understood why people try to scare people away from mooneys. they are not harder to land than say a piper or diamond and let's be honest if you aren't flying an ovation at close to the fl only 20 to 30ish kts faster. as i try to fly lop, i only get about 10 to 15kts faster yes you do need to remember to put the gear down.
  9. I"m going the the garmin gi-275. as for your fuel problem, try giving brian isabell a call : 832.595.5008 bkaviation@kaxh
  10. hmm, are there brushless alternators available ? be nice to have less to maintain
  11. I generally have a sim experience, get birdy working perfectly a month or two before mx is scheduled to break her
  12. bite the bullet, G5 or gi-275
  13. max rpm and throttle to altitude past 3000 ft, pull mixture just enough to get the egt to wiggle and adjust every thousand feet or so. don't really touch much until cruise, where i set rpm to say 2300 and adjust mixture to peak or below. when flying distance, i generally cruise at an altitude when mp falls to below 23in
  14. as long as the market will support me selling my m20e for $250k, i'm all in. honestly, i would do this tomorrow if i could afford it, totally solves all my problems
  15. I hope not, i just found 19/19, such a nice setting for hamburger runs
  16. shrug, at this point i'd rather have 2 gps and 1 nav over 2 nav, plus if gps actually goes out for something other than some random testing, i'm gonna bet vor/ils won't be much good at that point either
  17. only 2k less than a 355 and it's the same install
  18. Totally agree, the new comm is reasonably priced but the 215 with nav is just crazy expensive, guess that's what lack of competition and open wallets gets us
  19. i'm sorry for the necro, just want to know the story behind Peter Garmin
  20. and yes, if it was appropriately priced and better than lead acid, i'd buy it in a heartbeat
  21. uhmm, i believe i also said it was too expensive I just posted a link of an existing lifepo4 battery of approx the right size and massively more capacity, mostly as an example of what could be. honestly, it was the first return from bing/google, i bet there are many that would work
  22. motors require more current to start turning then to continue turning. so that prestolite may require the 190amps for only a second or two when you initially turn the key
  23. the specs from their site says a max discharge 5s of 250A i'm guessing that'd cover it but here's another one might have to change the battery box that will start your plane, car and truck all at the same time litime.com/products/litime-12-8v-100ah-max-lithium-battery-lifepo4-deep-cycle-battery-built-in-150a-bms-1280wh-energy-4000-cycles-1920w-load-power?_pos=3&_psq=150&_ss=e&_v=1.0 heck, add a starter cap and call it a day
  24. I really meant to say there was something approx in our size with more capacity. but even at 1c rate which if i remember correctly would be 100,70 or 42a should still start my birdy. I'd be there is something there with less ah and more amperage available
  25. litime.com/products/litime-12v-100ah-group-24-lifepo4-lithium-battery-built-in-100a-bms-1280wh-energy there you go, this thing would last longer than i have fuel range, cost less and still saves 12 lbs
