  1. yeah, i hope to never use a paper plate again, ever. my problem, garmin doesn't supply nav data for the gns480, only source is jepp. if they've stopped the discount on gp, there's no reason i shouldn't go back to jepp and get databases for everything @ approx the same price
  2. is this true? if so, i can switch to jepp and get databases for both the 355 and 480 and come out close to the same as i'm paying garmin for the 355
  3. CSV's can be tough, extra spaces, incorrect field delimiters, line delimiters, field order, blah blah blah, it's NOT easy. if i remember correctly ff and garmin both let you pick the fields to export, meaning you may have something which looks nothing like what's expected. it's not trivial. Best i can usually do, give the user a specification and say do this or pay me to import it for you. Thinking, if you gave up after 30mins due to some understandable CSV import issue, you had probably already decided GP wasn't for you
  4. i'm not understanding, your problem was not correctly formatting a csv ?
  5. mines in the shop having this installed, anyone have stories to tell to help me bide my time?
  6. same, esp if it includes tint. Doesn't seem to matter where or what direction, the sun is always directly on me.
  7. plexi also blocks most uv. purchased a pair prescription Aviator eye glasses with those nice transition lenses, figured they'd be great for flying except they would never darken in the plane. outside, immediate -- great, inside, nada. eye doctor explained it's the windows blocking the uv and also he wasn't gonna give me my money back
  8. I could be wrong but if the windows are made of polycarbonate, the material naturally blocks most UV.
  9. she's in she's in the shop now,no idea when she'll be ready, hopefully soon
  10. at what temps do we need this winterization kit, at some point i'm gonna fly where it's cold.
  11. lost the field wire once, everything in birdy is now LED so probably the heaviest thing running , gns480 and a kx170b. dropped the gear as soon as i noticed, landed about 45 mins later, uneventful. oh yeah, pulled out the handheld just in case. if it were an option, i'd probably install an earthx battery as backup just to guarantee more electrons than fuel
  12. I have this, super tiny but amazingly bright Aveo Redbaron XP Galactica LED Anticollision - Certified | Aircraft Spruce ®
  13. mine works great when the boots are healthy. I wonder why more companies didn't adopt those vac servos, whole system can be maintained for a few hundred bucks instead of thousands per servo
  14. I currently have a tail strobe, want to keep it the same. want to be able to out blast those cirrus drivers
  15. thinking i'll need a pair and a 500 tail in feb for my annual, my wing strobes have started acting up.
  16. what's the difference between the 650's and 660's?
  17. wait a couple weeks i'm replacing my whole system
  18. i come over the threshold between 80 and 90, seems to work out, Can't really see myself in a situation where fine tuning for weight will matter appreciably. i actually need to work on the opposite, i fail when told to land long. My E works great with people in the back, not that i do it much.
  19. Just you 3, or pilots and paws a C or E will do fine you've sat in a mooney, you know, once seats are in flying position, the pb in the back has loads of room. well atleast legroom, it's still a metal tube hehe.
  20. If it's just you and maybe the wife, I'd suggest an E, i'm a bit biased however. F comes with larger tanks, may matter if you fly long distance. oh yeah, legroom only matters to the guys in the back, it's the same across all models for the front passengers.
  21. I've left the door unlocked once or twice, the door can be opened far enough to toss out a device. It can also be shut and locked without landing ( way more difficult ) .
  22. you know thinking about it, most likely the ipad in front of me will be the LAST thing to catch fire, what about one of the other 5 or 6 lithium items, 2 phones, power bank, backup ipad, laptop, garmin gdl, wrist watch, action cam, etc, oh yeah lithium AAs
  23. My choice is simple: either let a fire burn inside the cabin with 1974 upholstery and everything else that’s flammable right next to the fuel tanks, or get it out of the plane. It’s going OUT. I don’t have a pail of water or a fire bag — the best I’ve got is a fire extinguisher, which may or may not be ideal. Worst case, I grab the vice grips and grill gloves I keep behind the passenger seat.
