  1. Here is another similar topic: https://mooneyspace.com/topic/43662-looking-for-the-perfect-lightweight-folding-step-ladder-for-the-201-wing-to-protect-the-flaps/#comment-759443
  2. Given the way prices have been going, that certainly sounds like a good deal, but it begs the question "What's the difference?". The answer, even if we had all the details, might be difficult to suss out. If I were shopping right now, I would want to see some recent examples of each shop's work.
  3. As far as I know (not a mechanic), you set the desired manifold pressure with the throttle, and the waste gate opens or closes as necessary to keep the manifold pressure where you set it. Very much like the prop control — set desired RPM, and the prop governor adjusts blade pitch to keep RPM where you set it.
  4. If you are addressing your question to the OP, you need to get that person's attention like this: @Chris Tarves
  5. BTW, I just looked at a quote for paint at a "middle of the road" shop on a 182. That is to say, good work, but not the most expensive option: $31,000.

  7. I like it! Might try making a one-off.
  8. Mine was a 1967 and, while it looked cool, didn't come close to either the suspension or aerodynamics of yours.
  9. Many moons ago, before my brain caught up with my body, I got my Corvette up to a little over 140 indicated on a new stretch of Interstate concrete. The speed was read by my passenger (another no-brain kid) because I couldn't tear my eyes away from the road -- it was all I could do to keep it on the concrete. As you point out, neither the suspension nor the aerodynamics were really designed for that.
  10. I haven't driven in Germany, but I was just making a funny about ill-prepared drivers in general.
  11. I hear that in Germany, actual training and testing is used to weed out people (mostly children) who are not able. Nothing worse than a 35-mile-per-hour brain driving a 100-mile-per-hour killing machine.
  12. Exactly. I squeaked through my last 3rd class, and then jumped to Basic Med. My doc is no pushover, but if I fall short in some way, I can fix it on my own terms, and then go back for a re-test. For a regular medical, if it isn't on the CACI list and the FAA gets involved, things get ugly.
  13. I just searched on "slide in replacements for a Narco 120 Comm radio" and the first hit was https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/mx11r.php
  14. I must be having a moment here. You told me the same thing in slightly different words, and I couldn't see it. I think I finally caught up. Thanks for staying with me.
  15. Tried it just for fun, but my mail reader says: ERROR The address "david@sabremech@gmail.com" in the "To" field was not recognized. Please make sure that all addresses are properly formed.
  16. Yep. I'll just stick to PM when the time comes.
  17. I think this is sound reasoning. If I felt strongly about STCs I really wanted, but they are no longer available either from an economical perspective or no longer available under any circumstances, I might have to give a little on some of my other needs, wants, hopes, or desires -- and, in fact, that's exactly what I did. Another factor is to dig out how much a prospective purchase has been flown in the last month, last year, and last decade. Nothing is more deadly to these birds than inactivity. Even if it's only 50 hours per year, if it's been flown one hour every week, it will be much healthier than one that has been sitting idle.
  18. Thanks. Some day, I will be interested in renting. I can always PM because you are on here regularly, but I'm pretty sure "david@sabremech@gmail.com" won't work. I may learn something here, but I have never seen an email address with two "at" signs.
  19. I don't need it yet but, for future reference, will it work on an M20K? Also, I don't think you can have two "at" signs in an email address?
  20. Since you mention Encore upgrade, I assume this is a potential problem for all 252s? Where can I learn more about this?
  21. Thanks! As I have observed a decline in LASAR, I have been wondering who the go-to MSC would be -- now I know.
  22. Maybe is already has. Seen any mental (AI) breakdowns on commercial flights lately?
  23. Sounds like modern medicine.
  24. Lots of optimism from some but, after 40 years in IT, I can say with confidence that all software systems with any degree of complexity have bugs. Or as we liked to say "undocumented features".
