Ugh! scarry!

My hangar neighbor had issues with his turbo Lance misfiring during climb and at altitude. He had two mechanics looking at everything from fuel system to mags and wires. After six months of finding nothing he called Zephyr and described the problem. They told him a plug was cracked. No luck finding the cracked plug with a magnifying glass but he replaced all the plugs and the problem is cured. The bad plug didn't show up during run-up.

I agree, no intentional deception here. That's more of an issue with the national sources. Just saying that if your business is news, you should be as accurate as possible. The pilot stated what caused the emergency, the fire department speculated. The news people were lazy.

...I was thinking Lower Alabama.

I noticed that also. Unfortunately the majority of the viewing public will believe the pilot ran out of fuel, another black eye to general aviation. In this case it probably won't matter much but when the media continues to get it wrong or deliberately reports inaccurate information, that is unacceptable. How many of you that run businesses can afford to get it wrong even 10 percent of the time? What about intentional deception? The media needs to set the bar a little higher.

Good News indeed!

Jolie, I plan on driving in Friday. If anyone else wants to do a Thursday dinner, I might come in early to meet some MS'ers. Anyone?

Had that happen to me in a Cardinal. Fortunately I had exited the runway and was taxiing. The mechanic said the inner tube was pinched. Glad you had no severe damage.

Try Naylors Instruments in Gainesville. They fixed my T&B coordinator in 3 days for $250. If they have one on the shelf you can trade out and won't have to wait. http://www.naylorsinstrument.com/ -
Ok, I thought my TBO was 2000 hours. What the heck? Is the IO360 A1A 1800 TBO as well?

I'm pretty sure the collar only fit one way as the hole doesn't line up when it is flipped over. We did put the spacer in as called for by SB M20-202. I'm hoping the bounce will settle a bit as observed by @Antares.

Nothing that I would attribute to the nose gear doors, but I do recall clunking. I'm not sure if it still does it after the rebuild. I'll try to pay attention next flight.

Where do you reckon @Marauder keeps his PSI with all the extra weight he carries?

Bob, I just read in an older post that when Mooney started using a 6 ply tire on the nose, they upped the PSI to 49 from 30. Do you know if you have a 6 ply or a 4 ply n the nose? Mine is a 6.

30 mains and 49 on the nose. I wonder why the difference? It would seem the weight would be the same up front.

Thanks for the replies. Bob, Yes, I double checked . It's 49 PSI. Good call though. Andrew, after watching your video I feel better. I guess that's the way they are supposed to ride on the ground. I thought the ride would be more cushioned because there is always talk of how worn out pucks will contribute to fuel tank leaks. Nice video by the way. What a gorgeous Mooney! The steering horn made a huge difference. Highly recommend to anyone with shimmy or sloppy steering.

Hello all, We just installed new donuts on the nose wheel along with a LASAR steering horn and a rebuilt nose truss. The steering is much more responsive and no play whatsoever. There is no more shimmy right before rotation now. So overall a pretty noticeable improvement. What I am not happy about is how exaggerated every bump in the pavement feels. My plane bounces like a low rider on Sunset Blvd. Is this the way a Mooney is supposed to feel when taxiing? Anyone else have the same reaction after replacing their donuts? Thank you in advance for your responses, Steve

I'm so glad your friends were not hurt or worse. What a horrible situation to come home to.

Hey Josh, Last annual (my first) we replaced all the brake and oil hoses due to them being hard (no flex). We just finished the second annual and with the cowl off I ran the engine to check for oil leaks and found a rather severe fuel leak. The line feeding the pressure gauge had failed and was pouring over my right side exhaust system. Upon inspection of the fuel lines they all looked fine and were flexible, but this one had developed a hard spot about 6-8 inches long and that's where the leak formed. So inspections don't always reveal a problem. I think hoses are supposed to be replaced every five years.
