  1. Back in the early days of iPad Apps we would higher Coders to create individual Apps for large Corp. meetings. The Project Mgrs and many of the Coders would just not get why we would go back and say no, we need it to this and if I push this I should not just see this, but this other stuff too. But there were always a few (usually late at night when very few people were around) who would come over and say they were tying this, would this be helpful or what else should this do? I get they are usually disconnected from the User for various reasons and typically only do what they are told to do. But I really wish more would ask questions or push when they know that if they used a program that did X and it should do X/Y they'd be pissed too!
  2. Thanks! I'll look closer at your earlier posts.
  3. My trim switch stopped working for Up Trim on my trip home after the yokes were removed and cleaned up during the Interior work. I assumed it was a loose wire they'd fix when it went in for the Annual. Just heard back that they are saying the switch is bad and it is $2,162.17 for a new switch and $937.18 for a used one. I haven't started a search yet, but for anyone that has had to change their Trim Switch, do those prices seem real? BTW, this is the first time for me with this shop after moving. Next question, does anyone know of a source for the part? I'll start calling around, but never hurts to already have one option if anyone knows of any.
  4. You're welcome.... I've been bugging them about that since I got my GNC355. It was through pushing them on this I ended up with a Garmin guy that told me some of the background and how from the beginning you could have (should have in my opinion) been able to do the CrossFill, DB Sync, etc. The 2" boxes were out for 3 years before they finally modified the Software to allow those obvious features. And don't get me wrong, it's not just a Garmin issue. A lot of big companies just get in their own way. Now if *I* were running a big conglomerate, I'd want a small division that did nothing but coordinate what all the real creator divisions were doing... That would last about a month until the Board or the Stockholders shot themselves in the foot thinking it cost too much and was a waste.
  5. That is SOOOO True!!! Also their total lack of understanding of their own market. Take the GTX/GNC/GPS 2" boxes. "No one is going to use one of those boxes with the GTNs. They'll only get a GTN750 and a GTN650, so we don't need to make our whole line talk to each other." How'd that work out??? As I understand it, Engineering asked the question and was shot down. Maybe Marketing just wanted to try and push people to buy only GTN.
  6. Personal preference OR pending your installation you have to. I kept my Turn Coordinator as I had heard the Aspen's was hard to get use to, even more so than the Altitude and Speed tapes. But I put it where I can someday add something else if a new gizmo comes out.
  7. They may not download immediately, but they will download automatically. Not sure what the schedule is for phoning home to the server and downloading as needed. But if you use the Clear Download and then check back in a few days the current DBs are there. There is a mode where you can not have AV DB Manager running in the background. If you have done this, then of course they cannot download automatically, only when you launch he program - probably when you're about to update your SD Cards.
  8. I put my GI-106B where you have your VSI. I wanted to have them side by side so that if there was a deviation it would quickly get my attention.
  9. Look in your Download folder. The link doesn't open up anything, it downloads his PDF.
  10. The Transmitter and Receiver are different circuitry. So you could be hearing the side tone and still not be able to Transmit. You could actually be hearing the Side Tone through your Intercom too. Also, how's your voltage? It takes a lot more power to transmit than it does to receive. So maybe something with the Voltage Regulator? First I'd loosen the radio and slide it in an out a few times (5-6) and then tighten it back in and test it again. Next it sounds like a Bench Test is in order. If you can get your hands on the same model you have you can also slide it in to confirm the backplane connections, etc. are all good and that the issue is in the radio.
  11. Well, there's that too!
  12. Even if e-LORAN came out next year, GPS Approaches are not going away for a LONG time.
  13. Is there a big difference between the in-store and the Sherwin Williams products I was seeing at Home Depot for Garage and Workshop floors?
  14. Well... In @Joseph Long's defense... This is a discussion about the MAPA PPP, not the Summit.
  15. I went though some of the old discussions on what to use on a hangar floor, but what about the prep? I didn't see much on that, just the various products to paint and/or use to seal the floor. My new to me hangar has some stains and painted lines on the floor. Nothing is oily to the touch, but I'd like to make sure I get the floor as clean as possible before I paint. Anyone have any good products or suggestions on the process. One guy I talked to swore by Coke (the drink ).
  16. As others have said, probably time for new belts if they are the originals. Issue with the the shoulder strap coming off is probably because the little nylon (maybe plastic) O-Ring that fits around the tab on the main buckle has broken off. It can be replaced, but again, pending the age you may just want to have everything replaced.
  17. If they said what Altitude their system was good up to, I missed it. But I've heard some of the other systems like this really only give you a little boost as you get up above 12K, which is really where you need it.
  18. I used to live at SL for years, I would just turn my Oxymizer flow up a bit (maybe 500' or so) and never had a problem. If you can control your flow, you might try that.

But you still have to hope they did it right. After my interior was done they had a local shop re-weight and redo the W&B. When they sent me the numbers I plugged them in and discovered that I could not fly in the plane alone without 200# in the luggage compartment. They had used the wrong number or measuring point for the nose wheel (even though I had warned them it was not like a Piper...) so the rest of the math was all wrong. New one seems similar to the last W&B, but I think at some point I'm going to have it done again to see if a different shop comes up with the same "new" numbers.
  20. Ethical may not be the right question, I'd want to know the statistics. For all the planes that have landed on roadways, let's limit that to busy roadways, how many serious injuries have their been to the auto occupants? I think I heard one study that said it was negligible, but I couldn't find it in a quick search. (Might have been something Paul Bertorelli as he's big time into statistics). Although a plane may come in 50MPH faster than the cars (on some roads) and be flying right over the top of them. The plane is eventually going to slow to land. At that point I'm *assuming* the cars ahead that have no clue the plane is there will keep pulling away as they have no reason to break. The cars way back will see all this going on and will/should be slowing. Now the cars right as the plane slows is the tricky part, but I think the reason I've heard of very few injuries is that most of the time the car sees the plane coming down on it's hood and slams on the breaks. And yes, there are ones like above where it doesn't work out and there is some damage. But again, NO INJURIES. NOTE: Would love it if someone has any real data on this!
  21. Yea the Search function here is not very good. I've been reminded a few times (sorry now I'm blanking on who told me) to just do a Google search, but for here. So I just stuck in "OAT Sensor: mooneyspace.com" and came up with: https://mooneyspace.com/topic/42326-oat-probe-location/
  22. Regardless of what they say, check with your own insurance company. And also ask them if they've heard of the group, you never know.
  23. Never assumed they used the same one, but I'm guessing it is a small market. So that's why I was wondering. And DO most shops use some sort of AD Software? That is a question I'm curious about that came out of this discussion. I don't know yet, but I'm about to find out when I go to a new shop for the first time in decades. One of the big downsides of moving, no real "Mooney" shop here. I know they work on Mooneys and the top guy seems like he knows what he's doing, as does the one guy that I meet that works for him. But I'm guessing it's still going to be an adventure....
  24. You mean a specific list in the Logbook or in the AD Service I'm think most shops are using now days? And if you're in a shop I'm curious, if you know, are most shops now are using an AD Service or not? And if you're using some sort of Software, at the end of the Annual does your system print out a current AD List for the Logbook?
