Couple of months, likely around the 10.2 release time.

I know! I'm working on it.

I wouldn't view the IFD100 as just a intermediate box (iPad app). It can certainly be that for the pilot that wants something like that. What the IFD100 has the capability to be is a large screen display for cockpits that have restricted space (i.e. Can only fit an IFD440) but want the capability to have a large screen display. With the new large iPads that come out on the market you have the option to have a 12" display, or whatever iPad you want to use. I'll try to get some videos and pictures of our IFD440 paired with an IPad Pro from our Sun n Fun booth to show what I'm talking about.

With the 10.2 software and the IFD100 (or the other app vendors) we can share data back and for. You could input flightplans on the IFD100 and it would push to the IFD 4 or 5 Series navigator and vice versa.

Cool. Since the IFDs have built in Bluetooth AND WiFi, there is no need for additional wiring or boxes to make them work with ForeFlight, Fltplan GO or the other app vendors that we are working with. Two way communication between app and IFD is coming in a future software release.

Avidyne is excited to announce connectivity with industry-leading app providers ForeFlight and Fltplan Go. This announcement expands Avidyne's connectivity options which include the previously announced MK10 Bluetooth® Keyboard. Initial connectivity will allow iPads with the newly-announced ForeFlight version 7.6 to wirelessly receive and display GPS position and flight plan information from Avidyne's IFD540/440 units running the current v10.1 software. FltPlan Go running on an iPad, Android tablet, and Windows 10 tablet can wirelessly display GPS position and flight plan information from the Avidyne IFD540 or IFD440 running the current v10.1 or later software. Many additional capabilities will be added in a future IFD software release for the IFD540/440.

Yes, we found that some customers weren't interested in the WiFi/Bluetooth or Terrain Alerts (most were dual customers that already had those capabilities in their IFD540) so in an effort to reduce the cost the customer, we set these as options. Both are available to be added at the time of purchase or "unlocked" at a later date.

We are hoping to have some WiFi announcements very soon. Just waiting on the app vendor to release an update. The IFD440 has the ability to have Terrain Alerts and Forward Looking Terrain Alerts, we made this an option for customers.

The IFD540 will communicate with the GTX330ES in regards to receiving TIS information. What I think you might be talking about is the ADS-B Out AML STC that is required for a legal installation. We've heard this request before and are investigating what the cost would be to add it to the IFD540 AML STC for ADS-B Out.

Yes, we dropped the price of the IFD440 and made Terrain Alerts & Bluetooth/WiFi optional add-ons. Additionally, we now include the install kits in the price of both the IFD540 & IFD440. Sent you a PM also.

I'm curious what concerns they have. If you want to PM the shop, I can have our Regional Sales Rep address their concerns.

Great write up. Thank you for posting it. Only thing to note is that the WiFi is "technically" turned on with our latest software. What we are waiting for now, is the software app developers to announce that they are working with us and when to expect the communication capabilities in their apps. I believe such announcements are imminent. Thanks again!

The keyboards are valued at $299. We haven't talked about a bundle package but I imagine we will have something like that in the future. -

Verify that you have registered your IFDs on MyAvidyne. Most of the keyboard have been shipped out to customers already. If you want to PM me your username, I can verify. -

We have been advising against doing the upgrade in stages. In the long run, it will cost more since you have to access the TAS processor to do the software upgrade. we don't want to inconvenience you either running back and forth from the dealer. The AXP340 will satisfy both EASA requirements for a Mode S transponder as well as the US requirements for ADS-B Out. There is nothing that would need to be switched on or off crossing the boundaries. The AXP340 is both Elementary and Enhanced Surveillance capable. -

We are open to working with many vendors. It requires collaboration on both end, if you are interested, make sure to let WingX know as well. -

We are just as frustrated with EASA as well. We submitted for approval of the IFD540 the same month it was approved here in the US. Same thing goes for the IFD440. We are hoping to have an approval shortly. The TAS-A hardware in complete and certified. We are working on the finally stages of the software side and hope to have that certified soon. The AXP340 1090ES transponder has EASA approval and is FAA certified for ADS-B Out with our GPS sources. Are you looking for an EU ADS-B solution? Do you fly faster than 250kts? -

Like what Lance said, the IFD440 has Bluetooth and WiFi built into every box. We are the only GPS manufacture that has both wireless features. So the Flight Stream is unnecessary and won't work with the IFDs. We are planning to have a big announcement about wireless capabilities by the end of the month. Right now, the available wireless feature is the Bluetooth keyboard that we have been giving out for free to customers who register their unit online. -

DFC90 development is in a holding pattern at the moment. I have passed along the requests from this forum and appreciate the level of response we have received. At the moment, there are some other potential projects that may interfere with further developing the AML STC for the DFC90.
