  1. great idea for powering the portable ADF!
  2. I have seen a bunch of panel designs recently that have USB-A only, or USB-A + USB-C. USB-A is going away, so are Micro, Mini, and Lightening. All new iPads, Android phones, and the iPhone 15 will all have USB-C by the end of this year (or very soon after). If you're putting in a new panel or adding USB ports to your panel, you're better off just getting 2 x USB-C ports like the Garmin GSB 15 (3W each, see photo) and buying new cables if you need them.
  3. I promised myself I wasn’t going to wade into to this conversation again… there’s PF and PNF— for cargo, what if the AI was trained to do just one of these jobs? If a 250 hour commercial pilot (in a 172!) can do it, how hard can it really be?
  4. I am Very surprised to learn that Vy<Vglide. Usually it’s about 1/2 way between Vx and Vy I am also surprised to learn Vx and Vy are so high. In my M they are 85 and 105 kias
  5. In gliders we practice simulated toW rope breaks at 200’. There are a few additional points to add: 1. Pitch for Vglide immediately 2. Initiate the turn back aggressively 3. Turn into the crosswind
  6. This is definitely has been one of the most tendentious topics in recent memory
  7. i was thinking about the cruse power setting the other day. i had reduced mine from 30/24 78% to 29/24 75% to stay under the 75% power mark but it occurred to me that since 30” is sea level pressure, this engine should have no problem running full time at that setting without over stressing the engine, and it would be like running the engine like a turbo normalizer
  8. please explain in as much technical detail as possible what is non-deterministic about machine learning systems? in particular, where does the non-determinism originate?
  9. interesting that you have the radios at the top. i only have navigation info. i will have to check the configuration
  10. you can also user-configure it to show MFD/PFD (sorry, not a great photo)
  11. I will make a movie of it next time I am at the hanger
  12. As long as there’s a highly paid individual with the family and a mortgage sitting at the pointy end I’m OK with it
  13. if you have an approach-capable GPS, then the GPS will calculate the distance to the next waypoint which is the VOR and display that in the flight plan.
  14. This mirrors, my experience with the medical division of the FAA as well. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this.
  15. Even when you adjust the target airspeed with the wheel?
  16. my 98 bravo doesn't have a "switch" -- the rocker is really a little generator and you just rock it a bunch of times and the light goes on for 30 seconds. maybe there'a. capacitor in there to hold the charge. did they change the design to a timer?
  17. they tighened mine up. I will bring it to C&W and ask them to give it another 1/2 turn and do a test flight
  18. excellent! can you DM me your email address and I will make the connection
  19. how did your plane get there?
  20. There's no Garmin link, just a PDF. It's from Dec. Not sure if they're a later one. Troubleshooting Checklist.pdf
  21. I think they want one at the factory. Did you get Garmin's GFC500 troubleshooting checklist?
  22. @Tom 4536 @thomas1142 @Evan @Mooney in Oz @PeytonM @TrekLawler Hey J + K folks -- Mooney is looking to bring a J/K model into Garmin to work on the GFC500 oscillations. Are any of you willing to consider?
  23. The latest is that Garmin is looking for a J or K model that is having this issue to bring into the factory for testing.
