  1. We are all speculating but something brought this bird out of the sky. It was falling not flying. Got my physics book out.-11000ft/min I read. . I suspect fire or explosion from medical equipment. We will probably never know for sure. I have some time in a Lear 45xr. Great airplane.

  3. Here is my big question. I just help resurrect a 67 M20 F. It gives 105 mph as flap speed in one document and 125 mph in another. I have a 68 G and poh says 125 mph. Did something change structurally between 67 and 68??? Look to hear fro the experts
  4. Remember it is loading dependent. The cg will determine the exact trim required. We don’t have a chart like large aircraft so we have use the TLAR method. I’d rather be a little nose down than a lot nose up. Only takes a seconds to adjust on rotation.
  5. Just flew an F. One place it says 105mph in another 125 like my G. What’s the story? I heard it changed between 67 and 68. Was it a mod or just a pub correction ??
  6. Pilot mall sells the POH. Not the best manual compared to newer aircraft. I bought one to have at home.

  8. I have little red buttons on my ptt which is attached to a plate screwed to the yoke. The buttons pop off and then you are left with a pin you push. It works but not the most comfortable. Anyone know a source for the buttons. I ordered several recently but they don’t fit. Thanks
  9. Cole has great reputation. I have used Preciscion in Manning and Freddie is excellent. I currently use Koening at KCDN. Small shop but one of the best mechanics I have ever known. I’m and old guy with quite a few rodeos under my belt. Saluda has a nice small shop as well as KCUB.

  11. A totalizer will not indicate a fuel leak. Unlikely but it can happen
  12. I think I have written about this before but my ww2 B24 pilot dad was flying from SC to MO years again in his Bonanza and saw the fuel gage in the right tank on E. Made a precautionary landing in Chattanooga. The fuel drain cock had broken off and the tank was indeed dry. No FF monitor would have caught this. I have an old G model Mooney and would like to get my gages wiring better. Anyone know a good shop that specializes in tuning up the old stuff ??? Thanks and fly safely
  13. Have replaced the oil cooler once since 68 G model purchased in 2013. The housing around the cooler has had lots of work done over the years. I see a 6 inch beef plate on one side. I am finishing the annual and A n P had to make bracket for one of the bolts to beef it up. We suspect the weight of the oil and all the vibration contributes to this area getting beat up.

  16. I think I wrote about this before but with all the fuel used gages out there - I have a JPI - they still will not help if a leak developed in flight. You will not know the quantity in your tank. My dad had a fuel drain break off in flight in a V35 Bo. Made a precautionary landing Chattanooga . All the high tech stuff doesn’t measure quantity. The FAA should be ashamed of the Ricky dink systems they’ve allowed in GA over the years. My GMC Sierra is accurate to 0.1 of a gallon. My M20 G reads so so when it gets low in quantity. I stick my tanks on the pre flight.
  17. I’ve been shopping too. Sticker shock is not the word. About 10k increase from before Covid. I’ve talked with Hawk ,Boss and both 26-27k. There is a shop I’m talking to up in Fountain Inn ,SC called Royalty Aerospace. I have also heard about good shops in Mena, AR. Any info would be appreciated. Also how about interior work. Hawk and Boss provide it.
  18. I want to point out that runway condition comes into play. Wet,icey any clutter reduces your ability to stay on the runway. The airlines have charts that reduce the crosswind limits as surface conditions change for the worse. Be careful

  22. Just went thru this about two years ago. Prop strike inspection was 11k overhaul 26k. I went with overhaul as it had been about 20 years SOH. Pinnacle did the work . Very happy
  23. Final NTSB report is out. No corrosion found. Metal was over stressed. Maybe a higher tech guy can post it here on Mooneyspace Suspect spatial disorientation as they exited the cloud in a tight spiral. May have been passed out from g loading which was at 8.
