  1. That's exactly where I put mine, just on the under side!
  2. I've been slacking a little bit lately with filming my flights. Here is a quick little clip of a descent through an overcast layer, with a VFR break off and descent through scattered layer) for a landing at O61.
  3. I remember reading somewhere that ditching in the water resulted in a greater than 85% survival rate! I'll take those odds, especially flying over the Sierra's... lakes are often my #1 choice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Thursday Joy Ride

SUPER delayed response... but I just use iMovie on my Mac. It's pretty simple, and I'd say you can easily figure it out in an afternoon.
  5. If you have a new/different idea for a logo... try to draft up a really rough sketch of it and post it here, or send it to me through facebook or something. They have artists that work at CustomInk who actually take your design and re-do it to make it look really 'nice'
  6. We can also set up the group buy so that it raises money that can go back into MS if we have enough people purchase a shirt! Stay tuned, I'll try to get something together soon and post it on here with more details.
  7. My fiancé actually works at CustomInk, which is a absolutely fantastic company when it comes to getting custom t-shirts! We could organize a group buy through them, and everyone can order their shirts/sizes individually. They have both men's and women's sizes, and different brands and qualities of shirts. The great thing is the shirts would ship directly to each person who buys it. As long as we have permission to use the Mooneyspace logo it should all be good. Anyway, we should get a pretty good % discount because of my fiancé. If you guys want me to set it all up, I'd be happy to do it. If it works well, maybe we could even get some hats or something made too!
  8. It's on the floor for 68' as well... So you have to cut a hole in the carpet
  9. I was looking at the SCS Interiors carpet kit on eBay that somebody on MS had posted awhile back... My C has the plastic trim piece that you speak of, and I noticed this kit does have carpet for that area. So my guess is that those pieces probably wouldn't work for me, but the larger floor and baggage area pieces would likely fit.
  10. Are the carpet kits pretty standard between the years? More specifically, wondering if a carpet kit for a 63' M20C will fit into my 68' C without issues?
  11. Oscar, did you ever see a decrease in CHTs with the new carb?
  12. That's where you are wrong. You'd be surprised what a few hundred hours or more in a 172 can teach a newly minted pilot. I think what's slightly disconcerting is that you are so eager to skip this step, and jump right into a pretty high performance aircraft. I understand you have been training in an SR-20... but that's doesn't mean you couldn't learn A LOT by slowing it down and flying around in a C172 or even a C150! You must build a solid foundation, and that can be done in much less of an aircraft that you are looking into.
  13. I prefer Hot Shots over Top Gun!
  14. Hypothetically speaking, if I were to have Monroy long range tanks installed, who would be my best bet for the job on the west coast? If I had to guess, I'd say Advance Aircraft in Troutdale... but does anybody have any personal experience in getting the long range tanks installed out here?
  15. Found this stuff on ebay - I think it's the same guy, this looks almost EXACTLY like the original that I'm going to replace! SWEET!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/STITCHED-HEADLINER-WINDLACE-FORD-CHRYSLER-GM-TAN-MATTE-TOP-QUALITY-/121894901131?hash=item1c6180958b:g:NzQAAOSwgQ9V5PNQ&vxp=mtr
  16. Does anybody have any leftover or extra windlace/welt sitting around? I'd be happy to buy it from you. Just looking for a little bit to re-do the baggage door opening. I'd prefer beige/tan, but any color would be fine! ...Just don't want to purchase 12 feet online when I would hardly use any of it.
  17. If I can get out of work Friday night, I'll be there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Two Dahon Speed Uno's (ordered from Amazon) fit into the baggage compartment of my 68' C! I don't even have to remove the seat! Just fold them up and put them in. Quality of the bikes seems relatively high! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. And the winner is.... Shadrach! The mag was fine... one of the mechanics who set the timing on the left mag somehow goofed it up! Problem solved, no overhaul required. Runs smooth as can be like it used to. Feels good to be reunited, and in the air again!
  20. Definitely not fuel problem. Carb full of fuel, and mag confirmed not working via JPI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Just a little more info/update on this... They are Bendix mags, timed to 25, to the correct marks. The P-lead was removed, and the mag still didn't work, so I guess that rules the P-lead out. This guy isn't some noob mechanic. I've actually known him personally since about 2004. He has spend his entire career running a maintenance shop that works on GA planes... so he has been around the block a few times. Since i'm not located on the field, and had to drop the plane off, I have only spoke on the phone with him - but I trust that he has done everything to troubleshoot the mag before determining that it needs to be sent out. One more side note, when he first got the plane and ran it for the oil change and compression check, it ran fine. The next time it was fired up, (after the annual) is when the problem showed up... I'm with you all... It is awfully disconcerting when your mechanic calls and says he "can't get the plane started", when it was dropped off running like a clock. But since I was supposed to be flying over there with a friend the following day... he was just giving me a realistic "update" on the status of the plane so that I could plan my trip over. I think I just want to convince myself that it might have been something that they did, instead of just catastrophic mag failure.. so that they will cover the costs. I doubt that's the case, however. We shall see when it gets sent out to the mag shop. I'll keep this thread updated as I learn more. I guess on the positive side of things... I didn't have a mag failure in flight, and now I will likely have one freshly overhauled mag, not two that are on the same interval.
  22. It just sucks to drop something off in perfect working order and then have it fail under someone else's watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The plugs are all clean... Hopefully it just ends up being the P-lead problem... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
