  1. Yes. The same thing is on my list when I will call them. You can't get the briefing after 30 mins ETE. Also I don't get the confirmation email with my IFR flight plans anymore.
  2. That's why I call it mystery. I have a dedicated iPAD mini just for the plane. No emails, no photos, no apps. iOS is up to date, Pilot is up to date. I use GDL88 as a external source ( which is for my GTN750 as well and that works fine all the time). And it happens ONLY as I approach Manhattan and it works normally right after I leave the Hudson River corridor. It lasts 20 minutes. Before that and after that is totally fine.
  3. I don't believe anybody has any input on this but I will post it anyway. And I will call Garmin tomorrow. I never had really any issue with the Garmin Pilot on my iPad mini. While ago I was flying Hudson River NYC exclusion. My Garmin pilot app just closed itself without any warning or error message. I have tried to restart it few time and it always closed after few seconds. I have restarted iPad as well only with the same result. Then I forgot about it as it didn't happen again. Last week as I am flying the same route and right around the Freedom Tower my Pilot shuts down. Ohh, I remember that happened last time. Today flying Hudson River I was expecting the same behavior and sure enough exactly same thing happened. I use the Garmin Pilot all the time and everywhere all over Noth East but that's the only spot where I can experience that strange phenomenon. I have no idea why this is happening.

  5. 1. I thought that 4hrs/qt is pretty normal. 2. Somebody should define "small flakes of metal" and what is normal. 3. Is compression still good? 4. Will you check the parameters with good mechanic before you pull the trigger? It's very hard to decide when to start to think about new engine. Some engines has 400 hrs, 4hrs/qt and small metal flakes in the filter. Should they be overhauled?
  6. GTN750 showed age of NEXRAD 4mins. That's why it caught my attention. I will watch it closely from now on.
  7. My GTN750 and Garmin Pilot showed the same NEXRAD image on my flight. However, there was clear sky as far as I could see. I also ask ATC if he has anything in his radar and he said negative no weather whatsoever. So I am wondering where that rain came from on my screen?
  8. I got offer for $150. I counter offer $200. I think is reasonable. It's like brand new.
  9. Without GPS few months. With GPS ON and using map or HSI probably 8 hours. Long enough get you to the nearest.
  10. I would like to sell my Garmin D2 watch and get the new D2 Bravo. It is pretty sweet small device with the GPS, Moving map, HSI, Direct To, Nearest and many other features. I just like the look of the Bravo more. Any interest? Price not set. No reserve. Any reasonable offer will do it. Or maybe some trade for my 1977 M20J?

  12. I have started my PPL in this particular plane with this ( RIP) instructor. The DA20 is very small and light two seater. We couldn't top off the fuel tanks because of W&B. I was very careful about that back then. I couldn't believe this report when I read it.   13. Busted. I don't know if this is right way to do it but I just put the period there to follow up the topic in " My Content". But in this case I am speechless. I wasn't too eager to practice my stalls too after I found out how quickly it drops the wing.
  14. Just make sure there is no other reason for the leak. My was leaking too. The reason was stuck exhaust valve and bent pushrod.

  16. I am about to change my tires on my J. I have 600-6 on mains and 500-5 on the nose. 1. Do you recommend to change the tubes as well? 2. What are the tubes sizes / valve angel? ( too lazy to search ) 3. Recommended tubes 4. Any concerns when disassembling wheels? Any advices? Thank you very much.
  17. I meant to chain the tail to the weight on the ground through the tie down eye. I have seen mechanics do that.
  18. Looking for some ideas. 1.What people use to weight down the back of the M20J ( or any other plane) to put it on the jacks in order to do some maintenance on the landing gear? How much weight does it take? How much up the jacks have to travel in order to lift the wheels off the ground. 2. Any tricks or anything I have to be aware of when changing tires? Thanks. BTW, I have bought EZ tow today for $200. Very happy.
