  1. Transition instructor fail proof starting method. 1. Throttle open an inch 2. Elec fuel pump on 3. Open mixture full 4. Count to 6 seconds 5. Close mixture 6. Fuel pump off 7 Crank engine.before you loose your prime. Be ready on mixture When starts pull back throttle to 1100 Hot start. 1. 1100 rpm for shut down 2. Don't touch anything 3. Crank engine 4. Be ready on mixture Should start with about 5 blades. What I learned. How do you know when flooded? When it fires and you advance mixture and it dies. It is flooded. Full throttle open. No mixture Crank When catches. Not so fast with the mixture and pull the throttle back. I tried what worked in the C172 and just ended up with fuel all over the ground.
  2. What can you do with a $2.00 zipper from Wally World? Creating accessory bag that match the plane interior would be one thing. One is going into Mrs. Yetti's purse.

  4. Some nights my Google FU is strong
  5. Seems like some reinforcement on the old panel from the back side and some epoxy and carbon fiber cloth and some vacuum bagging and owner supplied parts log book entry and you should be fine. Only if you are selling would you need a PMA or STC.

  7. Black. Growing up racing small sail boats with a permanent course mark in a circle. There was a big discussion between dayglow orange or Black. The black marks (PVC plastic pipe with concrete int the bottom foam in the top) were much easier to see against a blue sky and grey water.
  8. No rationalization. I want to keep beating the horse till I get the correct answer. There was lots of things not done properly with this plane over the years. For a plane(75F) with a undocumented electric landing gear and a TDS max rpm that does not match the propeller or the engine. I think we are all here to learn. And the drawing above helps us all learn. I am also wondering if the earlier fuel pumps were not dual diaphragm without the tell tale so that made the shroud more necessary. Luckily there is an oil change in the near future looks like I will be rerouting some tubing.
  9. The boiling point of 100LL is 170 C. Is it at or near 170 C hot?
  10. I am trying to get my head around. How hot is it back there anyways. If it is hot enough to boil fuel would the fuel lines outside the shroud not also boil fuel. I would think the fuel injection lines sitting on top of the engine would boil fuel better until they are hit with pressurized fuel. The shroud/hose assembly is only going to work while in flight or maybe a little air with the prop spinning in ground ops. How hot is it back there? Leaks. There is a tell tale drain on the pump. The pump housing would have to split or the diaphragm blow out the side. Seems like a really, really remote chance.
  11. I would have to guess that the shroud would be impossible to get on without removing the engine from the airplane. It was almost impossible to get the pump on and tighten and safety wire without it. Took way longer than a V8 chevy for 2 bolts and a couple of hoses.
  12. Are there really any legal fuel pump shrouds? It is not in the manual, so what do we need an STC version or a TSO? Can I replace it with the LED version? How hot does it get back there behind in the low pressure area?
  13. I vote contact cleaner
  14. Parts manual is no help. Under the Power Plant group, In the baffle section the circled part is called "connector"
  15. no shroud around his pump. no shroud around my fuel pump
  16. There is some technology that allows real time data and other maintenance annotation on photos. I am trying to figure it out. It would be cool to have pictorial maintenance guides.
  17. I think I see the adel clamp down angling to the top corner of the prop governor in the second pic. I don't think this stuff is in the Manuals. The don't have that type of documentation back there. I looked at the power plant section and did not see it. I still can not find the Stall vane adjustment or even the parts in the parts manual.
  18. On mine the Mags have a couple of hard tubes at an angle that cool them
  19. Mine is a SCAT tubing that blows air on the prop governor. I would think the nice chilly fuel flowing though the pump would be enough to cool the pump. Now the prop governor would seem to need cooling since it has hot oil flowing through it. look for an adel clamp of the same diameter in a line with the hole and the prop governor
  20. Yep. I have been off the bike since the 8th of Dec. It seems to be coming together just some pops and other things that seem to be working out. We just agreed on the bike repair. Close to $2000.00 for a new front end on the bike. It's a carbon steer tube, carbon stays that I did not want to ride after the crash. I was doing 15-18mph and it bent the front wheel out of alignment so it was a pretty hard hit. My left outer thigh left a big dent below the window pillar. A good size dent in the hood from where my elbow hit it.
  21. So there I was Dec 8th. It was a great December day for a bike ride. Took the ride with the least roads. Connecting bike paths and only one major road crossing. On my way from the bike path to the neighborhood there is only 450 yards of road. I going south a car is approaching from the north. I see his tire go across the center line I hit the brakes, then I see him turn back across the line. I was thinking whew that was close and then I was rolling off his hood onto the ground. as he accelerated into me. Broken septum. His quote from the accident report I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON SHERWOOD FOREST. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT INTO THE COLLISION CENTER. MY VEHICLE WAS 85 PERCENT INTO THE PARKING LOT. THE BIKER SPED UP AND STRUCK MY VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. Little does the driver know that I was GPS tracking my ride. I sure hope he tells some lies in court. You just can't get far enough away from stupid people to be safe
  22. Somewhere the NBAA has some guides for your question. Maybe had to email them to get them, may have them on a hard drive. I will look around. https://www.nbaa.org/admin/taxes/personal-use/ https://www.nbaa.org/admin/management-guide/ If you want to send me some of the money for doing your CPAs job I can create an invoice for you :-)
  23. Depends. 978 UAT can do plane to plane and does not need ground station. I have had the Stratux working on one of my flights over to Austin. There are no ADSB ground stations in the middle of Texas so you have to be up at 4000 so. I had my shadow catch up with with me on both androids with Stratux as the ADSB in. This is just me sqwacking 1200. And no ADSB out. So the ground station was picking up my transponder and rebroadcasting my position. There is a status web page in Stratux that I just found so that will help with the diagnostics. (towers and what is being received)
  24. Those are fun pics. I see an OSHA violation on that extension cord
  25. Where is the drawing? I like pictures.... I noticed that my trim wheel almost spun freely after the heater was blowing on it for awhile.... probably a need to clean a re grease at some point.
