  1. About 7 feet for the baggage compartment. A lot more for the door
  2. This guy on ebay has windlace. The foam core is at an angle not round. http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-INCH-CORE-PREMIUM-STITCHED-CLOTH-BLACK-HEADLINER-WINDLACE-BY-THE-FOOT-/121262448442?hash=item1c3bce1f3a It's not a tinnerman clip as that would show to the outside. but a wood screw "nut" McMaster Carr refers to them as speed nuts. Although a standard bevel head machine screw and nut would do as would the pop rivits I used needle nose pliers to hold the nut. Use an awl at an angle to cinch up the windlace and put a hole in it. Hold in place. remove awl replace with chosen fastner. repeat. Should take about 2-3 hours standing by the plane...... Leather... hum I bet I could take some scrap and make my own to match the interior.
  3. Mine seems to do pretty good in a hard landing. Eventually I will get it to be smooth
  4. Pics or it did not happen
  5. Luggage compartment bottom panel The aluminum panels take about 30 minutes to make, it would be faster if I had a brake instead of a hammer and edge of a table. All in for the panel creation and install should take about 8 - 10 hours. Things may slow up for the side panels. We will see. Cutting for the rest of the baggage compartment panels. All in it looks like it should be around $750.00 including the floor carpet by the yard ordered this morning. Maybe 15-20 hours labor. Have not seen a full leather luggage area offered. I would have had to pull the panels anyways since the people in the business did not have patterns available.
  6. I have (was given) (about 15 hours in a complex) MP to 15. On threshold check airspeed, if high pull up, slow down, gear down, Then gumps. Always gear down on threshold. For straight ins, here will have to be a new "always gear down point"
  7. My transition instructor was. "Hey isn't there a plane in the pattern" I start looking. Instructor pulls breaker. Then waits. Then asks another question on gear down point at threshold. I caught it at base that the gear was not down. Reached over and pushed the breaker in. Gave him the "ha ha that was funny" look.
  8. You wonder what the Mooney Marketing Department was thinking of when they decided Antique Moss was a carpet they wanted to put in their planes.
  9. I think it is skipping a step in the checklist. How many times have you skipped a step in any check list? Finger slid too far down. the last step took too long or needed more attention. then you go on to the next step. which is actually a couple down from the one you last did.
  10. Do all the electric mooneys have the floor manual indicator? In addition to checking the green light, I think I check the floor about twice. The manual gear indicator would seem to be bombproof on reliability of knowing.
  11. I think the swift people know things about polishing http://saginawwings.com/monty-answerman/polish.htm
  12. OH NO. That point when you realize the paint on your cool mooney was also used by AMC. As in AMC Pacer or AMC Gremlin year manuf name code sample 1975 AMC Green Apple H5
  13. So in the stripping process I read that they use alum foil tape to mark off things like the windows. Did you do this? Does the common Homer Dan foil tape work?
  14. So I was searching for leather hides.... and The leather hide store had some on sale. So I ordered 2 hides in Khaki They showed up while we were cruising Alaska So the easiest panel to take out is the one under the rear seat. With a left over roll of aluminum sheeting. Looks like siding from something. And a couple hours later As far as fire resistance, Pretty sure it will burn way less than the cardboard panel that this replaced since it was soaked with brake fluid/red mineral oil because someone thought 3/8 vs. 1/4 tubing on the brake reservoir was a good idea. Note ugly green carpet to the right that will soon be replaced. Note foil tape in place vs. duct tape. Next up full leather baggage compartment. Should be easier to clean than carpet.
  15. Thought about it. Then stepped back once the buffer put a nice shine on the old paint. Now thinking about just stripping the leading edge and polishing. Very Jet like. I was noticing on the Airbus that I was on they went for a brushed aluminum look on the leading edge. Should be able to accomplish with some scotch brite pads.
  16. It's tubing and ferrels and inspection ports. The tubing connections should be hand tight or a pair of pliers to loosen. Blow away from the instruments. Could be a seed or spider or a mud dobber. could have been water in a stuck drain hole.
  17. I vote firewall behind the pedals. Looks like there is a port and starboard piece.
  18. I had the video camera going in the cockpit for last evenings flight. I noticed that I pointed at the gear switch 3 times prior to landing. I started the camera on the downwind. I was flying commercial this week and found myself on final wondering if the gear was down.
  19. yes a wee bit taller than the average bear
  20. With all the technology nowdays, I thought we were supposed to do our own cheesy MooneyGun 2 videos http://unlimitedtexasinc.com/video/MooneyGun2.mp4
  21. I have the F with the disco green stripes. I also have the manual with all the paint codes I can post up later this week. I hit the paint with a buffer and it shined right up. So just going to keep flying it
  22. Since we are on Austin to Houston. What is the best method for Austin Berg? I have flown to pick up friend, but not left the plane to ride with the big daddy plane.
  23. What is interesting on United flights are usually several hundred dollars cheaper leaving from austin than IAH. Going to seattle it was $600 First class from Austin $900 Coach from Houston. Some of the Austin flights connected to the Houston flight.
