McCauley C214 propeller for sale. $5000
Tim Jodice replied to Tim Jodice's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Price reduced. Asking $7000 -
Anyone notice in the picture that they used a Mooney?
-
The name says it all. I have had my MT prop on for about 5 months now and love it so it is time to sell the old prop. It was new in 2016 prop strike in 2017 hence the 2017 Overhaul. It has 508 hours/4 years 8 months since new. It has 418 hours/ 3 years 7 months since overhaul. It includes spinner, backing plate and all of the hardware you see. Asking $5,000

Comparing the 757-200 and the 737 Max10

I hope to see something like this in my life time. https://boomsupersonic.com/overture -

Between having withdrawals from not being able to fly it AND that it is going to be an even better airplane than before you must be super excited for the day you get to push the throttle forward for the first time on you new airplane!
-
Do you think a Mooney is as easy? I ask because I saw a 172 with the cowling off and there is a lot more room in there than in a Mooney.
-
I had a cylinder repaired and I am curious with others think it should cost. On my 201 I had cylinder #1 removed and reinstalled. I took it to be repaired. They also replaced all of the sparkplugs and installed 2 new EGT probes. What do you think it should cost? Just labor.

You have fans! @Jonny Serious question for all. When was the last time the CEO of Mooney used his own Mooney to literally go across the country? Thats some great advertising.

Does it have TKS?
-
+1 I had my pump overhauled and bought https://www.cav-systems.com/store/tks-pump-flow-rate-test-kit-mooney/ great communication, on time repair.

No doubt you would not spend $70,000 if you didn't plan on keeping it for a while. Like avionics you loose big time if you do the work then sell it 6 months later. An option only if you will personally get the use out of it. I think it adds alot of utility to an airplane.
-
Considering that it is difficult to find a long body never mind one with FIKI. Is $70,000 that bad? Some people put 70K in there panel. I know a Bravo engine is that much. If you have a airplane that is exactly how you want it (except for the TKS) you know it inside and out no with unknown problems. Would you have it installed on your airplane? I think I would.
-
@CAV Ice @CAV Ice Protection how much does it cost for a new installation FIKI system on Mooneys? If the installation is done by you.

acclaim with type s composite prop
Tim Jodice replied to pkofman's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I didn't know more blades was better at higher altitude. I rarely fly higher that 7,000 feet but yesterday I climbed to 10,500 and was surprised to see no speed loss which it should have like any naturally aspirated airplane. I didn't do a GPS so it maybe inaccurate. I am intrigued. I will climb to 11 and 12,000 today see how it works out. -
Sounds like something Yoda would say.
-
You know it is doing something good when it eliminates all RPM/MP restrictions.
-
That awesome, looks great. I wonder if they used the same prop that is used on a J and just did the paper work to bolt it on to a C. What did it cost all said and done?

Comparing the 757-200 and the 737 Max10
Tim Jodice replied to Tim Jodice's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
The never ending Boeing vs Airbus. look at the company rather than just the product. When Airbus makes a mistake it is something like building the wrong airplane (A340 & A380) for the market. When Boeing makes a mistake it works out to be a Frankenstein 60 year old 737 that kills people. Oh yeah I forgot it wasn't a mistake. The max mess is why i asked about theses two airplanes. the 757 does what it was meant to do 40 years later with few changes yet has proven to be a safe workhorse aircraft. A 777 a clean sheet airplane now 25 years old is a fantastic aircraft and is just now having an update done. Obviously Boeing is very good at building aircraft if they want to. A little trivia to add, the A340 is currently the safest airliner having never had an accident. -
They don't charge an unlike core on any engine. Its a great way to get rid of any engine from an ancient narrow deck to a dual mag "D" engine.

The savings of a 390 would buy more than half of the cost of a powerflow exhaust. IO-390+powerflow+ an electronic ignition
-
Expensive? A Rebuilt the 390 is $2,500 LESS than a Rebuilt 360. If new is your plan than it is $16,800 less Forgive me for the pictures. Airpower doesn't play well on my phone. If you search on airpower for a 390 it doesn't come up and that is why I reached out to them for a quote. A quick search on a Van's forum shows many peoples positive opinion of a 390 vs a 360. Its no 550 but it is noticeable. Another example is a Bonanza 520 to a 550 conversion is 15HP (5%) increase in power but it is a big deal in reality. I dont have any hard evidence but I have heard that a 550 was certified at 300 under real rather than ideal conditions so it likely makes more than 15 hp more than a 520 in the same conditions. Maybe a 390 was certified the same way and makes more then 15hp (7.5%) in the real world.

Problem is you can't have one. Currently there not even 1 for sale on controller. I have always admired the Comanche 400 just like the LS400. They both push the limits of there category. Power is awesome!
