  1. I was curious if anyone here has looked into this: https://www.faa.gov/nextgen/equipadsb/privacy/
  2. 409 bathroom cleaner, but rinse after. By far the best I’ve used and it’s cheap
  3. It’s tragic to hear about things like this. I’m glad to hear the both lived. One thing I thought about, 102 gallons of fuel is a lot of fuel and the second door probably saved one life. Imagine being upside down hanging by a seatbelt and the plane is loaded with fuel and on fire. You have seconds to make your exit. While nobody wants to read about this. The pilot and passenger were lucky to be in a Mooney, which I speculate saved their lives.
  4. Good Morning Kai Congrats on your license. I also have my maintenance done in Troutdale, OR. If you end up purchasing a Mooney, I strongly encourage you to take it to Troutdale for a prepurchase inspection. Just remember almost everything is fixable, just buy accordingly. A Mooney is not built like a Piper and Cessna. Use to be another gentleman named Tom around the Portland area very knowledgeable with the Mooney. He was older and not sure what happened to him. If we ever cross paths I’d gladly take you up.
  5. I use the Troutdale, OR guys. I like that I don’t have to pay for their learning curve. They are familiar with the ADs and SBs. They found many things missed by another MSC. They are also very customer service oriented (return calls and emails promptly). Combine all that with Oregon having competitive sales tax. I always meet other Mooney owners at their shop traveling many states. That’s also a sign.
  6. Hello Peter I bought the 310 STC roughly 18 months ago for my non type S Acclaim. The total cost was $8700 including a prop governor overhaul. My feelings are mixed about the conversion. The Acclaim is a completely remarkable aircraft with 280 horsepower. Like others have mentioned, the fuel flow is crucial. I have seen 38+gph before. I’ve never had problems with temperature. I only run LOP at lower power settings like 2300 28.5”. I see 280-310 on my CHTs. I enjoy having the extra power punching through nasty weather quickly. Yes the takeoff is shorter, rate of climb better, but it was never disappointing with 280 hp. Best of luck on your decision.
  7. Yes I bought it from Eldon, based in Lewiston for quite awhile. How is Eldon?
  8. I had great success with Tempest Fine wire plugs in Lycoming engines. I recently installed tempest in my TSIO-550-G1. My findings, smoother start not as cold blooded hardly any mag drop cooler LOP operation roughly .7-1gph better fuel burn. I have 70 hours on them, no regrets.
  9. Oh sorry folks, I was away for a bit. I still have the plane. My contact is: 509-899-6805.
  10. Yes you gotta like green. Should be an easy strip, I’d rate the paint at 4 out of 10.
  11. 1966 Mooney M20EI have loved this plane the last 9 years. This plane has taken me to Oshkosh many times. 12. I have nothing but great things to say about the folks at Glendale Aero. The goodyear fbo is not GA friendly. Bad experience.
  13. I replyed Tues July 10th, I will be attending the Monday dinner.

  14. I looked into it about a year ago, $23k for WAAS, $8k for 345R. Rumor is the NXI is the next upgrade for roughly $60k. For now I’m living with my non waas non adsb G1000... usually time makes technology better and cheaper, not always true in aviation.
  15. Another thing to consider on the larger opening in the acclaim. The acclaim has nothing attached to the cowl. The two intercoolers along side of cylinders, huge oil cooler, Intake is behind the spinner, no cowl flaps. Mechanics I’ve spoken with prefer to work on an acclaim, I guess the bravo has a lot attached to the cowling.
  16. I’m planning on Saturday evening. Real Name: Andrew Patry I may have two guests, not yet confirmed.
  17. I was in a speedy decent and I don’t think it was completely closed. My best guess was it built a little pressure in the gear well and the door fluttered until the hinge gave way. From the corrosion/rust at the break, I’d say it had fatigued over a few years.
  18. You are lucky, Mooney just soaked me $1900 for the outer on an acclaim. Hinge broke, peeled back, made a mess.
  19. A friend of mine installed a factory remanufactured LB on his M20K. After 50 hours the engine it would only run on the low boost. Thankfully under warranty. Everyone assumed it was the mechanical fuel pump, replaced with no change in operation. Then the troubleshooting got deeper. Turned out to be the fuel diverter. Continental stood behind their product and picked up the tab.
  20. Those Troutdale guys are fantastic.
  21. I should have clarified, idle only stumbles when cold below 1200. When it warms up it’s fine. Thank you all for the feedback.
  22. Hello Mooney Fanatics I’m trying to find some feedback on the Tempest Fine Wires URHB32S. I have a champion massives currently and the aircraft stumbles LOP and doesn’t care to idle well until the tach reads 1200-1300. Few questions: Did it save fuel? Was the mag drop spread more narrow? Did it idle smoother? Was it worth the money?
  23. This was the ebay plane. It was in California. It was nice.
  24. You may have already found reasonable insurance. I was in a similiar scenario last June. I bought an non- waas Acclaim, I insured it for $360k with a $500 deductible for $2600 a year with Falcon. Falcon was very straight forward and great to deal with, but they didn’t start at $2600. I had to show similar time in type, thankfully I have some 231 and some Rocket time. The Rocket is extremely nose heavy and I was able to get falcon to accept the rocket as like type. An Acclaim is so much easier to fly than a rocket. My Rocket buddy always flys with 60 lbs in back. If you haven’t made an Acclaim purchase yet, I strongly reccomend the Acclaim even if they screw you on insurance for a bit. Richard Simile is in Chandler, AZ and is available for instruction and strongly encourage a few hours with him.
  25. Hello Everyone I told the guys at the Mooney Service Center that I didn’t want the external tach that it was a deal breaker for me. At my request, they figured out a way to manipulate the G1000 to display to 2700 redline start to 2800 redline end. They mentioned that when I ever sell the plane there might be a issue and I may have to add a tach. For now I am very happy with this MSC. My feedback on the 310 HP stc: Positives Wow! Take off and climb are a massive improvement, mine is heavy with air conditioning, not much useful load. You can really feel pushing in the last inch. Negatives My fuel burn on take off was 27gph, now 33gph. More power more fuel, I get it. I expected the previous power settings of 25-27 inches to 2300rpm that I used to run 13ish gph is now 15ish gph 50 LOP. The fact is the Acclaim is an awesome machine with 280hp. When I first flew one, I couldn’t imagine anything better. Overall I don’t regret the decision. I think mooney must have weighed all the variables when they decided not to roll the Acclaim out with 310hp, or maybe they are saving that card until the competition catches up.
