  1. There is a better way to do it. (Thanks Clarence, I'm the owner he helped). 1. Drain the tank completely, and open up the top access covers and clean out the tank. 2. Cover or plug the fuel intake pipe. 3. Cover or plug vent line from the outside. 4. Fill tank with water. 5. Cover the tank openings with clear plexiglas and seal with tape. One piece will need to have a hole in it the size of a shop vac hose. 6. Apply vacuum and watch the bubbles appear. Very easy to see through the plexiglas. 7. Drain and dry tank well before you repair. Easy as pie. Worked great. Thanks again Clarence, you are a wealth of knowledge.
  2. Dam, I'm going to have to start using my iPad and the ad won't be the only thing "popping" up.
  3. I've had to rebuild mine at least every 2 years to keep it working properly. There are no new ones so i'll keep rebuilding it.
  4. I'll be there. Lee
  5. I'll be coming, but driving....to much crap to bring. Lee
  6. give me a call around 9 or 9:30 your time at 226-203-4332 Lee
  7. Welcome to the site Bruce. You will love the Mooney. it's a great plane. Yes you can do your PPL in it, my partner and I did ours in the Mooney we purchased. COPA had the best rates for low time pilots that we found. Hope all goes well with the purchase. Where in NS are you based. my son is at Greenwood.
  8. now THAT'S a WIDE BODY Mooney if I ever saw one. Mooney doesn't need a 2 door model, they need a cargo door model for this one. lol
  9. My vote goes for this one.
  10. I hear these are popular with the glide guys. It's not for me. I'll take the zip lock with absorbent material. I use these all the time when flying my glider. They work great. Not uncomfortable at all and you can hook them to a catheter bag as well place somewhere else in the aircraft. The best solution I've found so far. When trying them, buy one size smaller than you think you are (LOL) they need to be a snug fit.
  11. You want to blow the relief tube knowing what it was used last flight ????????? better ad Disinfect lips to the check list or are you going to get the wife to check the tube ?
  12. Does that funnel come with an STD.....oops I mean STC
  13. She's finally back flyable. The interior panels came out not bad at all. All in the panels cost about $150 and lots of sweat. It sure makes the old girl look a lot better than she did. Still have some trim pieces to paint, but at least it can be flown now. I have to give a big THANK YOU to Clarence for all his assistance and allowing me to work in his nice warm shop instead of my cold hanger. I don't know many AME's that would let a customer do that.....Thank you. Next we'll start the panel......stay posted.
  14. Sad death to a nice Mooney. Never like to see one go under the saw. R.I.P. dear Mooney Is it me or does Alan's saw sound like my dentist's drill ???? Now I know why I don't like the dentists.
  15. Drum roll please.........and the answer is ?
  16. I was thinking more of the 300 HP hung on the nose of the C, not a measly 10% more. Someone must have thought or tried this in the past.
  17. Hey, I'm not proud....when my plane is down and I can't fly, I'll bum a ride from anyone. LOL
  18. Does anyone know of an STC for a larger engine (like a IO540) to go in a early model Mooney? I went flying in Clarence's 400HP beast last weekend (my Mooney is in for an annual and interior) and BOY does it hall A$$. Opened the throttle on T.O. and by the end of the runway, we where doing over 180 mph and climbing at over 3000 FPM. Not bad for something that has its tail on backwards. It makes my C look slow and makes my old plane (Katana) look down right pitiful. Now if I could put that much HP in a C model...... There has to have been someone out there that tried cramming those BIG JUGS under the cowl.
  19. Ya, I thought of adding the hat rack. Airplane plastics has it, but boy is it expensive from them. I tried Alan to see if he had any of the interior plastic in good shape but no luck, so I decided to just make new interior panels for now. Have less than $100 in materials for the interior panels.
  20. Nice, I've always liked the 231. Congrat's
  21. Oh, that would be Sooooo much fun to fly. I have an hour of T6 time, it was a hoot.
  22. If you want to start at the beginning....Those Magnificent Men and There Flying Machines made me laugh. But ya, gotta love Top Gun back then. Now Kelly looks like one of Marauders girlfriends.
  23. Welcome to the Mooney family. You will love her, can't beat the vintage birds. Not hard to spruce up the interior. What was the engine issue that is stopping you from flying? You will find this site is a wealth of information when you have a problem.
  24. Finally made some more progress on the interior. Headliner and carpet are in and starting on the interior panels.
  25. Dam Marauder, you have a GOOD imagination
