piperpainter Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Sorry guys I guess the picture didn't upload last night like I thought it would. All in All i spent less than $10 in stuff to make the seat actually move. But then you have the uphulstery and carpet and making things look pretty! I spent I think less than $200 in supplies to have this completed. Oh...and I need a new back after working inside hunched over for hours and hours ...eyyY! Well worth it though! Quote
Qwalton Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Wow that looks great! Looks like it adds tons more storage room as well. Could you show what you did to make the seats lay down? Quote
rob Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 A HOWTO on this would definitely be appreciated! Quote
KJATCt Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 That looks great and USEFUL! How did you do it? Quote
piperpainter Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I will post how to do it soon. According to my mechanic because we only changed one thing its considered a Minor modification and does not require FAA field approval, only a log book entry by an IA. More to come along with instructions & pictures. Quote
scottfromiowa Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 BRILLIANT! Can't wait to see your "how to" Bryan. Well done! Quote
piperpainter Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Still working on the pictures I went ahead and tested things out. I can easily fit a scooter like this http://www.x-tremescooters.com/gas_scooters/xg550/xg550.html in the back of the plane. In fact I am going to purchase another one like it so I can go places and have a way to get around quickly when I land. Of course that would be when there is only 1 other person with me....80% of the time! Pretty excited!!! I need to check the size of the pins I used to hold the seat up, but you will need 2 spacers. They are 10-32 steel or aluminum. The other is going to be 2 hitch pins that are the same size of the bolt currently holding up the seat. I am going to possibly fly tonight and try and take some pictures then give a detailed write up tomorrow if time permits. Again, for those that are curious this mod took me maybe a 2 days full work to complete nicely, thats including interior changes! Quote
scottfromiowa Posted April 23, 2010 Author Report Posted April 23, 2010 Thanks in advance for your work on putting photos and "how-to" together Bryan! Quote
MooneyMitch Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 The character quality I admire about Bryan is: "Some people see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not?.....Robert Kennedy Quote
carusoam Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 When Bryan is on a mission, he stays focused to the end.... Witness the red paint, the polished spinner and now the fold down seat. I think Kennedy may have borrowed the phrase...."Some men see things as they are and say why - I dream things that never were and say why not." -- George Bernard Shaw http://www.quotedb.com/quotes/3143 Mitch applied the phrase better than any Kennedy could.... -a- Quote
