PeytonM Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 I’ve seen this a couple times recently. After a couple minutes, display is normal.
rklems Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 It's the ADS-B FIS-B weather overlay. There can be incomplete data that then gets filled in when you are in better reception. If you were to toggle that off momentarily, you should see it disappear.
LANCECASPER Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 Yeah the FIS-B weather is probably set to U.S. rather than regional
TangoTango Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 I don't think it matters whether it is set to continental or regional radar (other than speculation that the lower resolution continental radar may load quicker since it presumably requires less bandwidth). I've seen the same artifact many times on my 650xi at low altitude despite normally keeping mine set to regional, and once I climb out and get ADS-B reception the data always fills in. Interestingly, I noticed on a recent trip across Wyoming on V6 at the MEA (10k MSL, but only 2-3k AGL) when I had poor reception the FIS-B seemed to be smart enough to load a smaller than normal ring of radar data around my location first, then expand as I continued down the airway toward an area of better reception. I thought that was neat, as it's the first time I'd spent a significant period of time with marginal FIS-B reception at altitude.
Advanced AeroTechnologies Posted October 21, 2025 Report Posted October 21, 2025 We have seen this before. I believe it has to do with the range set. Can't tell looking at screen shot seems like you are at 25 nm. Next time you see this try to range in a couple of clicks and see if it changes then try range out. I cannot remember, sorry, which way but I know we have dealt with this in the past. Thanks. 1
