What are you guys (and gals) paying out there for an OH, and what kind of lead time have you experienced?

When you say “twin mag” are you talking about a Bendix dual mag (D3000/D2000)?

If you’re asking me, I didn’t say twin mag.  I said two mags.  Bendix S6RSC- 25P

No, sorry - I was clarifying the title with OP - wasn’t sure what “twin mag” meant

Nope, my fault.  Didn’t notice the original subject line.  All good.

Sorry, Dual. I corrected it.

I got my D3000 IRAN’d at Kelly for a little less than $3k. Turnaround was less than a week, and I’ve had no problems with it (aside from the price :)).

There’s just so much complaints of stuff coming out of Kelly’s factory I would be very careful and very suspicious of anything overhauled by them. especially something with a single point failure such as a dual magneto. They were the ones that had their overhaul manual written to where they did not have to replace a single piece and call it an overhaul. So they start recycling a bunch of used stuff. And that’s how you end up with a distributor block from 1982 in your Bendix 1200 magneto, that was actually superceded by Service letter in the 90s at some point but yet there it was, built in 2017

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend Kelly, but that was my price and lead time. I thought Kelly was interesting because they have a PMA for every Bendix dual mag part including the housing. But the end result for me was that they essentially replaced every part including the housing.

Anyway, it’s been a trouble free IRAN for about 200ish hours.

This is the guy that I was planning to use next time around:

He’s very active on the Piper Forum and very well regarded. Seems to do a lot of dual mag overhauls.

+1 on Bruce Taylor at Air Power Accessories.   He is very experienced with the dual mags, and talked me out of doing an overhaul and just doing a 500-hour for some good reasons.   Mine was done in February for about $1800 and it's been fine.   Bruce is very good to work with.   Highly recommend.

Let’s try to stay on topic.

I think you are asking for people not to provide shop recommendations but only provide time and price?

I just didn’t want this to devolve and go down into the proverbial rabbit hole. I’m just inquiring on what fellow owners are paying.
