Jetpilot86 Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Thoughts on it’s use as a light oil. It’s origins are from WW2 and I use it on my Mauser. Quote
Fritz1 Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Think Ballistol has been around for 100 years for cleaning guns that have steel and wood parts, not sure what it does to Aluminum and paint, Triflo is the light oil of choice according to Mooney service manual, inexpensive, widely available, found that it even removes lead bromide exhaust stain from paint Quote

Schllc Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Hahaha! may need military experience to know that one. Quote
Fritz1 Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 To my best recollection the can says that you can also put it on your dog, helps against ticks and helps injuries heal better Quote
cliffy Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Snake Oil sold out of the back of horse drawn wagon by Dr Feel Good? :-) Lots of "oils" around but TriFlow is easy to find and approved. Quote

There is nothing else that smells like Ballistol, it’s unforgettable… Quote
Pinecone Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Hoppes Number 9 is the stuff that smells so good. Especially the original formula with nitro benzene in it. 2 Quote
Mister_Bevilaqua Posted Friday at 04:33 AM Report Posted Friday at 04:33 AM Hoppes No.9 smells the best, funny enough, I have all three mentioned. TriFlow is preferred on uniball joints. Quote
Hank Posted Friday at 11:27 AM Report Posted Friday at 11:27 AM Actually, Zep penetrating oil smells the best--enough like bananas that it can make me hungry. Haven't tried using it as lubricant, but it really helps get rusty bolts to break loose. Quote

But I’m also one of those odd people that can’t stand the taste of cilantro. Edited Friday at 03:23 PM by Andy95W Quote
