steeve555 Posted December 12, 2024 Report Posted December 12, 2024 Working on a M20K that has a updated instrument panel that no longer needs the hump. The owner says a J glareshield will fit on it. Looking at the Ashby 1977-1983 glareshield. Anyone know if it will fit? Don't want to waste his money. TIA Quote

N201MKTurbo Posted December 13, 2024 Report Posted December 13, 2024 I have an Ashby glare shield on my J. It fits OK. You will have to mount the lights and I had mine covered in leather at an upholstery shop. It needed a little trimming. It is fairly thick fiberglass, so it will never fall apart like the original plastic. Quote
steeve555 Posted December 13, 2024 Author Report Posted December 13, 2024 Thanks Im looking at ashby. I have used before. Question I am asking is will a J model fit a K model that no longer has the hump. Quote
KSMooniac Posted December 14, 2024 Report Posted December 14, 2024 I'd bet money that it should work fine. J/K are pretty much identical behind the firewall. Sent from my motorola edge plus 2023 using Tapatalk Quote
kortopates Posted December 14, 2024 Report Posted December 14, 2024 Some years ago, my glareshield was in horrible shape and was a glaring eye sore after upgrading the rest of the interior with Hector. I checked out the Ashby and thought it was big downgrade in appearance and functionality. I was about to search for a salvage glareshield but Hector surprised me resurrecting my old one to better than new. Hector sometimes has some used ones if yours can’t be resurrected.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

The Ashby glare shield should be considered an inner framework for a nice upholstery job. It is a sturdy piece of fiberglass, but it’s kind of ugly as it comes. 2 Quote
steeve555 Posted December 15, 2024 Author Report Posted December 15, 2024 I put Asby in a 172 and an arrow. I liked the spartan look and fact that on those two models you can use as a handhold to adj the seats. Thanks for replies. Quote
