blaine beaven Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 My yokes have the original plastic on them and it is flaking badly. When I am getting the avionics upgrade I intend on reworking them. I don’t know of anyone local that does leather wrapping, and given the hot and cold temp extremes here I’m not sure how that would last. A friend had a local gunsmith cerakote his piper yokes. I have also heard of people powder coating. Any one have experience/suggestions? Thanks! Blaine Quote
blaine beaven Posted December 5, 2023 Author Report Posted December 5, 2023 Also, I have the original centre cap pieces but they’re pretty rough - a prior owner screwed something into one of them. Has anyone 3D printed a centre cap? I’m thinking that could be more versatile if I want to attach a phone mount down the road. Quote
SKI Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 There's a place in Texas called Aero Comfort. He does interiors and leather wraps Mooney yokes. I've never seen his work in person but pretty much everyone who ever posts about his work says it's amazing. I think he's usually pretty busy but it would be worth reaching out for a quote. His website is pretty good and you can check out his work there. aerocomfort.com Quote
hammdo Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 See if there is a local steering wheel shop that leather wraps steering wheels. I used a local shop near me and they turned out great: -Don 2 Quote
ZuluZulu Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 Unless your budget disagrees, don’t overthink it, just send them to Hector at AeroComfort. It’s worth it! Quote

IvanP Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 Hector at Aero Comfort did mine few months ago and did awesome job. I strongly recommend him. Quote
hammdo Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 Not on purpose, just how it was stitched… -Don Quote

hammdo Posted December 6, 2023 Report Posted December 6, 2023 lol. I wasn’t too concerned. I told them I like the original mock up anyway… -Don 1 Quote
