I have A and C at every seat. Everyone is happy. If I need two Cs at a single seat, I have A to C adapters in the seat back. No problems and everyone is happy. I have A to Lightening, A to C and C to C cables. No problems, everyone should be happy...and they are.

Is there another box or wall-wart to run the O2D2 from USB?  And if you do that, do you remove the batteries?

No, the MC clock has two ports.

The newer O2D2 you can leave the batteries in, and if the cords comes out of the power stops, it will run off the batteries.

Older ones are different.

Mine is older.  I'll have to research further.

My plane came with a MidContinent digital clock with 2x USB-A ports.  I might consider replacing it with their version with 1 - USB-A and 1 - USB-C.  Or just keep it and add USB-C panel mount power device.

This one is TSO'd and has the same current capability (3.0A) for both the USB-C and USB-A ports.   The only difference appears to be the mechanical form factor of the plug.

Eric,

That looks like the guts can be swapped out for the next standard when it arrives…. :)

My biggest hold from installing plugs in my panel… is having it become defunct in a year or two…

Thanks for supplying all the phone technology answers!!!

Best regards,

I think that's why the cigar-lighter-plug-in options are popular.   They can be swapped out really easily on demand at low cost.

This one looks reasonably future-proof for a while:

What I would like to find is dual USB-C Smart outlets.

Since I already have two USB-A on pilot side.  That would be great for pax side.

Communicates with device and negotiates the charge rate.

You can get dumb USB-C that is the same as USB-A with a different connector.
