I am flying to Daytona on Delta for business next weekend.  First time in Daytona and am looking for good eating joints or places to go in the evening.  Any suggestions?

If you have a car I would suggest that you visit Spruce Creek, the fly-in community a short drive from DB.  Jhon Travolta used to live there, at the time he owned a Lear 23 and a Vampire.  If you go Saturday between 11-12 you might see the return of a gaggle of all types of planes returning in formation from breakfast. Go to the local realtor and ask him to drive you around, in a golf cart if possible.  You'll see beautiful houses and hangars full of airplanes.  I lived there for several years until we decided to come back to Virginia to be near our daughters and grandchildren.  We lived in a hamgar home with a 3000sqft a/c hangar and all I had to do to get to my airplanes (had a Cessna310B and a Cessna 140 then) was to walk 60 yards, push a botton to open the hangar door pull the airplane out and be in the air in minutes. Now I drive 50 miles one way, one hour if I'm lucky.  But I don't miss it, had the experience and I'm glad we did it.

PS  SC is a gated community, just tell the guard at the door that you are coming to see the Spruce Creek realtor they'll give you a pass and they'll let you in.

Depending on your interests, there is a lighthouse in Ponce Inlet (south side of Daytona).  If you go to the light house there is a fishing pier with a restaurant that is close, inexpensive, and pretty good.  I can't remember the name.  There is all sorts of stuff to do around the speedway.  There is also a nice boardwalk right on the beach.  That's about all I can think of right now. Have fun

Well, you are a weekend ahead of Bike Week. That may be a good thing if you don't like motorcycles. Ponce Inlet is a very good suggestion. The Fly In is cool, too. If you are a NASCAR fan there are things at the speedway to do.

If you are down south towards Ponce Inlet, there is a good restaurant, Our Deck Down Under, in Port Orange under the Dunlawton Bridge. Very good scenery and food. Also across the river on the mainland side, also in Dunlwaton, if Aunt Catfish's .

I lived there about 10 years ago and go alot for the bike events. Don't expect too much from Daytona itself.  Beautiful scenery up and down A1A.
