Bennett Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 I had two AvMap EKP IVs, both panel mounted (Cessna 120, Dova DV-1), and a yoke mount on my Mooney 20J. I really liked the cripness of the maps - better than my Garmins, and the dedicated side buttons. The service from the U.S. dealership/importer was great. I waited, and waited for the V model, but they didn't release it until after I redid my panel with a Garmin 696 mounted in an AirGizmos dock. I have seen the V at airshows and I do like the screen better than the Garmin 696. As soon as AirGizmos releases their 796 dock (end of this month), I will replace the 696 with a Garmin 796. Many reasons, but most importantly, I hate the 696 mixture of joystick -in, out, left light, twist and turn, plus buttons, etc. The AvMap interface is much more intutive. The Garmin 796 is also intuitive, and the main screen is much like my Garmin GTN 750. I do think that touch screens are the wave of the future. I would only consider the IV or V if the price was really low. Quote
