I put a new panel in my 201 about a year and a half ago.  I had a GFC-500, G3X, 750XI, G5, 355 and a 345 installed with new wiring, switches and circuit breakers. When everything works I love it.  I lost the G3X which Garmin replaced with a new unit. I have lost the electric trim, the roll servo and now the pitch servo.  Garmin replaced the roll servo and I am now waiting on the pitch servo.  The shop that did the install has a good reputation and has worked hard to resolve my problems. I am not sure if it is the install or the parts causing the problems. The major reason I did the upgrade was improved safety and the new technology.  Everyone I spoke to about Garmin equipment had nothing but good to say about it.  So far my experience has not been that good. I am thankful I was in VFR conditions when the G3X failed. All these issues with less than 40 hours since the install.

I heard that Garmin had some issues with their servos. The serial numbers of mine were not in the batch with problems.  I was also told that Garmin has a new part number servo witch is better. Has anyone with a GFC-500 had similar problems?  How about an information with the new servos?  My plane has been in the shop for a long time and I have been driving places instead of flying. Help!

Thanks

Curt

Curt,

I have my GFC-500 for 3 years now and about 325 hours without a single problem.  I know there are many who have had servo issues but luckily mine have been rock solid.  Everything else Garmin I have (which is quite alot) has also been working well with only one repair on my 10 year old GTN (a year prior to the Xi upgrade).  I hope you get your issues sorted out quickly and get back to flying.

I just got a Xi which had touch screen problems…I think they have quality control problems across the entire line.

Sounds like my issues are not that uncommon. Thanks for your post.
