Our best user of the MVP50 is probably @donkaye

For technical discussions regarding the MVP50… invite @oregon87

José recorded some famous voice for his traffic alert system… Mrs. José is heard in many Mooney cockpits stating ‘traffic, ahead!’

Audio alerts are not permitted for certified aircraft with the MVP-50.  I had numerous discussions with EI about that and they said the FAA would not permit it.

That has never been an issue for me.  For example, if the gear is not in the down position when the throttle is pulled back, you get a blinking red light in the top center of the main display page that gets your attention in addition to the Mooney "Beep, Beep, Beep,...."  Of course, with the addition of the LHS you get a "Check gear down" audio alert passing through 200' agl.

@donkaye ah, ok.  Thanks for the info!

I went flying with @gsxrpilot and I believe he has the P2 aviation advisory system that sounds like Sam Elliott telling you "The gear is down" and it made me remember that I saw something about importing WAV files from a USB jump drive in the MVP50 owners manual.  Must just be applicable for experimental installs.  I was thinking that there are a few instances that it might make sense for a simple call out...High TIT/EGT, High CHT, gear down confirmation / gear up alert (at low MP/airspeed)...  Not a big deal, just re-reading my manuals and trying to actually understand it this time!

Yes, for experimental the audio callouts are permitted with the MVP 50.  Didn't and doesn't make sense to me.

As it relates to the aural alerts in certified units, it is my understanding that the FAA required additional testing in how the system would prioritize alerts in the event of two or more functions violating limits simultaneously.  In the interest of not delaying certification or incurring additional costs due to the required testing, it was decided to forego offering that functionality in certified applications.
